The first thing you notice when you approach Anfield Stadium is the massive red brick arch that spans the length of the main stand. This is known as The Shankly Gates, named after Liverpool's most successful manager, Bill Shankly. Underneath the arch is a plaque with a quote from Shankly himself: "Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool." These words perfectly sum up the passion that both he and the club's supporters have for Liverpool FC.

Another legend of the club is Geoff Hurst. He scored 180 goals in 411 games for West Ham, including a hat-trick in their famous 4-2 win over West Germany in the 1966 World Cup final. He remains the only player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
