England Football Membership: England+, ESTC and Caps Explained

Written by Liran Froind

Buying an England membership does not automatically guarantee a ticket, and the right choice depends on the matches you hope to attend.

For someone who wants priority for an occasional home fixture, England+ costs $27 per year and covers England men’s and Lionesses home ticket sales.

Supporters who want official England men’s away tickets, tournament allocations and Caps need the England Supporters Travel Club, which costs $115 for a new adult during the 2026–28 cycle.

Now, paying $115 shortly before Euro 2028 will not suddenly place a new member near the front of the ticket queue. ESTC rewards attendance across the cycle, and the most useful time to join is early enough to earn Caps through qualifiers, Nations League matches and friendlies.

England+ is bought through the England app and lasts for 12 months from purchase. ESTC runs as a tournament-cycle membership, with the 2026–28 period ending after the Euro 2028 final on 9 July 2028.

What Is England+ Membership?

East Stand - upper tier 534

England+ is the simpler home ticket membership. It costs $27 per year and gives members priority access to England men’s senior home matches and Lionesses home fixtures.

To illustrate the timelines, for the England men’s match against Spain at Wembley on 26 September 2026, ESTC members receive the first window from 3 to 6 August, England+ members follow from 7 to 12 August, and any remaining tickets enter general sale on 13 August.

Other England+ benefits include app content, England Store offers, competitions, rewards and partner promotions. There is no separate junior England+ tier, although a member can buy children’s tickets where the fixture’s sales rules permit it.

The key point is that England+ buys earlier access, not discounted admission. Its terms do not promise a standard reduction on the price of a match ticket.

For someone who wants one or two England home matches and has no interest in collecting Caps, it is generally the most proportionate membership. The extra $88 for a new adult ESTC membership is difficult to justify unless the supporter intends to use its away, tournament or low-cost Wembley benefits.

What Is the England Supporters Travel Club?

The England Supporters Travel Club, commonly shortened to ESTC, is the official loyalty membership for followers of the England men’s senior team.

Its main benefits are:

  • First priority for England men’s home ticket sales
  • A $7 discount on the member’s own adult ticket
  • A $3 discount on the member’s own junior ticket
  • Access to the $34 Home End and Level 5 standing allocation
  • Eligibility to apply for official England men’s away tickets
  • Eligibility for England’s association allocation at Euro 2028, subject to qualification and ballot rules
  • Two Caps for each eligible match attended
  • Member competitions, forums, training events and other experiences

An ESTC member can normally purchase their own discounted home ticket and up to seven additional full-price tickets in the same transaction. Away and tournament allocations are generally limited to one ticket per member.

How much does ESTC membership cost?

ESTC membershipNew memberRenewal
Adult$115$88
Junior$47$27

Junior membership applies to supporters aged 15 or under at the beginning of the cycle. A young member cannot be allocated a ticket without an accompanying member aged 16 or older.

The membership is primarily digital. Members receive a digital card, while the current terms specifically include a physical membership pack for juniors rather than promising the former scarf-and-badge package to every adult.

Is there an ESTC waiting list?

There is no traditional season ticket-style waiting list, but membership is not unlimited.

The 2026–28 Travel Club is capped at 40,000 members. Around 34,000 places were made available for members from the preceding cycle to renew, leaving up to 6,000 places for newcomers.

Note that applications can close before Euro 2028 if the ceiling is reached.

How England Home ticket Priority Works

South Stand - upper tier Block 527

An England men’s home match ordinarily has three stages:

  1. ESTC priority sale
  2. England+ priority sale
  3. General sale, provided seats remain

Tickets are normally sold first come, first served within those windows. Joining a membership does not reserve a seat or guarantee that suitable tickets will remain when a buyer reaches the ticketing page.

ESTC members receive their discount only on their own ticket. An adult buying eight seats does not receive $7 off all eight.

The discount alone is not a strong reason to pay $115. It would take 17 discounted adult purchases to recover a new membership fee through $7 reductions. The real value lies in the first sales window, the $34 allocation, Caps and access to away and tournament applications.

The $34 Home End and standing tickets

ESTC members can buy $34 Wembley tickets for the east side of the stadium during their priority window, subject to availability. This covers the lower-tier Home End behind the goal and 5,000 additional licensed-standing tickets on Level 5.

The offer expires when the ESTC sale closes and does not apply to Euro 2028, where UEFA controls prices.

For context, standard adult prices for England v Czechia in October 2026 ranged from $47 to $108, with limited Level 2 seats at $128 and $162. That makes $34 a meaningful saving, although prices outside the protected ESTC allocation can vary by fixture.

How Do ESTC Caps Work?

Caps are England’s way of measuring supporter loyalty. An ESTC member earns two Caps by attending an eligible men’s senior qualifier, Nations League match or friendly.

Caps are not awarded merely because a ticket was bought. The membership number must be attached correctly, and the FA can ask selected ticket holders to complete an identity check. A supporter who fails an attendance check can lose the Caps for that match and face further verification or membership sanctions.

Tournament-finals matches themselves do not earn Caps. The system rewards the qualifying and friendly fixtures that lead towards the tournament.

What are active Caps?

For ticket ballots, active Caps generally cover the current two-year membership period and the immediately preceding cycle. This creates a rolling four-year loyalty window.

Older Caps remain part of a member’s all-time record but eventually cease to influence active ballot positions. Members can view their active total, all-time total, Caps-table position and attended-match history through the ESTC profile.

Renewing members receive a renewal Cap, while someone entering a third consecutive membership cycle receives an additional bonus Cap.

How many Caps does a new member need?

The 2026–28 rules introduce two particularly important thresholds:

  • Six active Caps are required to participate in an oversubscribed away ballot.
  • Nine active Caps are required for the main lower Euro 2028 tournament ballot tier.

Three eligible matches produce six Caps. Five produce ten.

That makes five attended matches a useful first target for a completely new member. Ten Caps clear both minimum thresholds, although they are unlikely to put someone among the highest-Capped 70% for a particularly popular away fixture or tournament match.

Every Cap counts, but not all Caps buy the same thing. A modest total can establish eligibility; a much larger one may be needed for a guaranteed place or the cheapest ticket category.

How England Away ticket Ballots Work

ESTC is required for official England men’s away allocations. England+ does not include this benefit.

Members register their interest before a specified deadline. When demand exceeds the allocation, applicants on fewer than six active Caps are excluded. Of the eligible applicants:

  • 70% of tickets go to those with the highest active totals.
  • The remaining 30% are balloted among other eligible members.
  • Unclaimed seats can enter a second-chance sale for members with at least six active Caps.

The number needed to fall within the top 70% changes for every fixture. It depends on the size of the away end, the number of applications and the loyalty profile of the people applying.

A six-Cap member therefore has permission to enter an oversubscribed ballot, not a guarantee of success.

Away tickets are issued personally and cannot be transferred to another ESTC member. Depending on the fixture, supporters may also have to collect a ticket or complete an identity check before attendance is credited.

How ESTC Will Work for Euro 2028

Euro 2028 is being staged across England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland, but it is not a series of ordinary England home matches.

All four host associations enter qualifying. The 12 group winners and eight best-ranked runners-up qualify directly, while two places are reserved for the highest-ranked host teams that have not qualified through those positions.

UEFA will determine the tournament allocations, prices, ticket categories and sales conditions. ESTC will distribute the FA’s association allocation for England matches, but it cannot determine how many tickets England receive or what those tickets cost.

The proposed ESTC distribution system is:

  • 70% for the highest-Capped applicants
  • 20% balloted among remaining applicants who attended at least four home and two away matches during the preceding cycle
  • 10%, together with unused tickets from the 20% pot, balloted among other applicants holding at least nine active Caps

Further tickets can be offered to lower-Cap members where supply remains. All arrangements remain subject to UEFA’s final operational rules.

Joining immediately before applications open is therefore risky. Membership may have closed, and a newcomer with fewer than nine Caps could sit outside the principal ballot tiers.

What World Cup 2026 Taught England Fans

The completed World Cup 2026 ballot demonstrated that Caps can be more important for securing an affordable ticket than for securing any ticket at all.

For England’s group match against Croatia, the FA received 4,932 applications for an allocation of 4,022.

Members on 19 Caps were within the highest-Capped 70%, but 59 Caps were required to guarantee the cheapest Supporter Entry ticket. A member on 30 Caps could guarantee the next category up.

The contrast became even clearer for the final. There were 3,409 applications for 4,500 places, so the overall allocation was not oversubscribed. Yet the limited cheapest category required 61 Caps, while supporters with very low totals could obtain higher-priced categories.

The practical lesson is that category selection is key. A supporter applying only for the cheapest tier can fail even when more expensive seats remain. High-Cap members are not merely nearer the front of a general queue; they are much better protected from being pushed into the costliest parts of the stadium.

Is Club Wembley an England Membership?

North Stand - lower tier 143

Experiences by Wembley Stadium, commonly associated with the Club Wembley name, is a separate premium seasonal scheme.

It includes a reserved premium seat for a programme of Wembley events rather than eligibility for England away ends or association tournament allocations.

Wembley advertises at least nine major football fixtures per season, including England men’s senior home games and FA Cup fixtures, subject to the chosen membership agreement.

Wembley membershipStarting seasonal price
Inner Circle$3,872
Centre Circle$7,404
Number Nine$9,308
Bobby Moore$13,254
One Twenty$19,078
Private BoxPrice by enquiry

These packages suit buyers seeking padded seats, lounges, food and drink or a regular premium Wembley programme. They do not replace ESTC for official away tickets, Caps or association ballots for Euro 2028 tickets.

Can You Buy England Tickets Without Membership?

A supporter can buy a home ticket in general sale when seats remain after the ESTC and England+ windows. For a lower-demand fixture, this may be the simplest approach because there is no membership fee.

For major tournaments, supporters can also apply through the organiser’s public sales rather than the FA’s association allocation. A FIFA or UEFA public ticket can provide entry to a match involving England, but it does not carry ESTC loyalty priority or guarantee a place in an England-designated supporter section.

Other routes include authorised Wembley hospitality and open-market resale listings. Ticket-Compare.com is a comparison platform rather than a ticket seller, bringing together listings from pre-vetted resale sites and official ticketing partners. This allows supporters to compare availability before clicking through to the provider responsible for the purchase.

Is England Membership Worth It?

The answer depends much more on access than on discounts.

For one England home match

England+ is a sensible starting point when the fixture is likely to be popular. The $27 fee buys access to the second sales window without paying for away and tournament benefits that may never be used.

General sale may be sufficient for a less heavily demanded game.

For several home matches

ESTC becomes easier to justify. Members receive the first sales window, the $34 allocation, a personal ticket discount and two Caps for each eligible match attended.

Someone attending five matches would collect ten Caps, placing them above the minimum thresholds for oversubscribed away ballots and the main lower Euro 2028 ballot tier.

For England away matches

ESTC is essential for the official England allocation. A completely new member should first aim for six active Caps through home attendance.

For Euro 2028 tickets

ESTC is the relevant membership for England’s association allocation, but membership by itself is not enough. Join early, attend qualifying-cycle matches and avoid assuming that a low Caps total will secure the cheapest category.

For premium Wembley seats throughout the season

Experiences by Wembley Stadium is the relevant product. It is far more expensive, but it covers a broader seasonal Wembley programme and hospitality rather than supporter loyalty.

England Membership | Frequently Asked Questions

Is the England app free?

The England app and a basic England account are free. England+ is an optional paid membership within the app costing $27 per year. Existing My England Football login details can be used to access the app.

Is My England Football the same as England+?

No. My England Football remains relevant as an account and login identity, while England+ is the paid membership carrying the advertised home ticket priority benefit.

How long does ESTC membership last?

The 2026–28 ESTC cycle runs until the Euro 2028 final on 9 July 2028. Applications can close earlier if the membership reaches its 40,000-person capacity.

Does England membership guarantee tickets?

No. England+ and ESTC provide priority, eligibility or access to particular sales. Availability, ballot demand, Caps totals and ticket-category choices can all affect whether an application succeeds.

Where can ESTC members check their Caps?

Members can use their ESTC profile to see active Caps, all-time Caps, match history, Caps-table position and an away-ballot calculator.

Which England Membership Should You Choose?

The best option is to choose England+ if your goal is to get priority for occasional England men’s or Lionesses home tickets.

Pick ESTC if you intend to attend several England men’s matches, build Caps, apply for away allocations or pursue tickets through England’s Euro 2028 allocation.

And go for Experiences by Wembley Stadium if you want premium seating and hospitality across a seasonal programme rather than England supporter loyalty.

The most important decision is whether you are buying access to one Wembley sale or beginning a multi-year attempt to build enough loyalty for England’s biggest away and tournament matches.
