Buying Manchester City Tickets through Ticket Compare

Ticket Compare is a price comparison site, giving you a transparent comparison of prices across a number of resale ticket marketplaces. We hold these resellers to a high standard, testing their service with secret purchases and giving them impartial reviews. Ticket Compare offers:

  • 100% Genuine Manchester City Tickets
  • High availability even for sold out matches
  • Intuitive price, seat and section filters

If you’re asking if Man City Tickets ever go on general sale, the answer is ‘rarely’. The club takes steps to make it less likely, by offering members the opportunity to buy additional tickets, before opening the process up to the public.

Many Man City Members are often left out of this process, especially for matches that go on “Restricted Sale”, prohibiting newer fans from getting hold of tickets.

When that happens, the resale market is a vital way for fans to get to games. Maybe you’re desperate for a seat for a crunch title-deciding match, or you don’t mind spending extra for a premium MCFC matchday experience from an official hospitality agent. For more info, take a look at our guide to resale marketplaces.

How to Buy Man City Tickets via Ticket Compare

Click the orange ‘Tickets’ button for the fixture you want to attend. This will lead you to a stadium plan with a comprehensive list of seats in the left column. Here you can filter by price and seat location. After selecting the perfect seat, you’ll be redirected to the resale site to complete your purchase.

Receiving Your Manchester City Tickets

Primary outlets like the Manchester City ticket office release tickets about a week before the match. Whether you receive a mobile ticket or PDF, expect your MCFC ticket 1-2 days before kick-off.

The top resale marketplaces put an emphasis on customer service. They will provide reassurance and the opportunity to ask questions about the entire process, from receiving tickets to entering the Etihad Stadium.

Tips for Buying Manchester City Resale Tickets for the First Time

  • Ticket Names: Resale tickets may bear another person's name but will still work at the turnstile without a hitch
  • Refund Policies: Take a few minutes to review a resale site’s refund policies to avoid any future disappointments
  • Ticket Delivery: Receiving tickets within 24 hours before kickoff is common, so don't worry about tight deadlines
  • Higher Prices: Expect to pay more than the ticket’s original face value, especially for high-demand games
  • Customer Support: You can contact resale marketplaces with any queries—they usually offer comprehensive customer service

Entering the Etihad Stadium with a Mobile Manchester City Ticket

The Etihad is a modern stadium with turnstiles that scan digital passes for contactless entry. If you’re arriving at the stadium at a busy moment it’s a good idea to have your Apple Wallet or Google Pay loaded.

Another way to get in is to simply scan the barcode off the ticket on your screen.

Manchester City Ticket Prices

Using resale sites, the Manchester City ticket price is affected by how many people want to buy tickets for a specific match. So while cheap Man City Tickets can be scarce, you may have more luck if you pick a match against a less glamorous opponent from the bottom end of the Premier League.

Going through official channels, the price of an adult Manchester City match ticket generally ranges from £58 in the South Stand Upper to £75 at various locations around the Colin Bell Stand, East Stand, South Stand and Family Stand. The price changes according to the opponent and the occasion, and is announced when the match goes on sale.

Useful Information about Manchester City Tickets

If you’re wondering how far out can you buy Manchester City Tickets, Cityzens Matchday Members have a priority window to jump the queue before MCFC tickets go on general sale.

In 2023-24 the club switched to a Liverpool-style bulk sale system, with one big sales window before the start of the season, and then another in October selling the remaining tickets.

It’s also important to remember that the biggest games will go on something called ‘Restricted Sale’, excluding new members.

For these matches you can’t just buy a Matchday Membership and make a purchase, as you need to have a history of buying tickets through official channels. Here’s a typical breakdown:

  • Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool - Cityzens Matchday Members with more than five purchases over the previous two seasons
  • Chelsea, West Ham United - People with a year of Cityzens Matchday Membership
  • Everton, Wolves - All Cityzens Matchday Members

This is mainly to prevent rival fans buying a City Membership and sitting in the sections. It’s worth remembering that the fixtures are subject to a lot of change, especially for a club like Man City, playing in Europe and appearing on television regularly.

The Man City Sales Schedule on the Secondary Market

The resale sites featured on Ticket Compare will have MCFC tickets as soon as the fixture list is announced in preseason. If you do make an early purchase, it’s a good idea to keep your plans flexible, because ticket resellers do not offer refunds if a match is rescheduled and you can’t make the game.

Are Manchester City tickets expensive? Resale tickets will often be above face value, but there are ways to keep the cost down, even if it’s tough to get Man City tickets cheap. Let’s look at a few:

  • Be flexible about where you sit
  • Consider getting a single seat alone
  • Buy early, before the season pans out and a match takes on sudden importance
  • Man City tickets are always cheaper for unglamorous opponents and midweek evenings

Manchester City Ticket Points Explained

Designed to reward the MCFC fan community, the club operates a loyalty scheme in which Season Ticket Holders and Man City Members gain Ticket Points by going to games. You can also earn points by joining the various Cup Schemes made available to Man City Season Ticket holders.

One recent change to the system is that away games no longer provide any Ticket Points. This was an attempt to avoid Man City away games becoming a closed shop, restricted to regular travellers. One unintended upshot is that Season Ticket Holders now have a massive advantage, as we’ll explain next.

Buying Away Tickets for Man City Games

Capped at £30, primary market Manchester City Away Tickets are extremely difficult to come by.

These are the cheapest Man City tickets sold on the primary market. But they’re only available on a sliding scale via a Ticket Points basis. In reality, it’s only Man City Season Ticket holders who are in a position to gather enough points to qualify.

In fact, the qualifying criteria are so strict that there are dyed-in–the-wool Man City Season Ticket holders who can only get to a few games each season.

Only a single Man City away game in the last eight years has gone to general sale, and that was because of a scheduling anomaly.

Manchester City Hospitality Tickets

The Etihad Stadium has a matchday hospitality selection that puts many Premier League stadiums to shame. All packages include comfy padded seats and a complimentary match programme, but there’s an ever-escalating array of benefits for the more upscale lounges.

Man City’s Matchday Hospitality options can be broken down into the following categories:

  • Heart of City - A three-course meal at the  Joie Stadium, home of Manchester City W.F.C., with inclusive drinks, before heading to your general admission seat on Level 1 in the East Stand
  • Media Zone - Also at the Joie Stadium, this experience takes place in the Media Zone, with a three-course meal, inclusive drinks, and general admission seat at Level 1 in the Etihad Stadium’s East Stand

Manchester City Matchdays at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City moved into the Etihad Stadium in 2003 a year after it was completed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The club has done a few things to make this former athletics venue feel more like a football venue, including an expansion to the South Stand in 2015.

Now the stadium is growing again, with construction work bumping the capacity to 60,000+ for the 2025-26 season. When the project is completed, all four stands will have three tiers.

Where is the Best Place to Sit at the Etihad Stadium?

The low tier of the South Stand. For atmosphere it can be fun to be near the away fans, especially because the neighbouring blocks (111-119) are home to Etihad Stadium’s singing section.

Of course, if you want great views you’ll be better off mid-level in the Colin Bell Stand (223-228) or East Stand (202-207). For a closer look, you can consult our guide to the Etihad Stadium seating plan.

Getting to Manchester City FC

The simplest mode of public transport to get to Etihad Stadium is the Metrolink tram, dropping you off for a two-minute walk to the ground.

Via the Ashton-Eccles Line, this service connects with the National Rail hubs at Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria. Trams run every ten minutes or so, and take less than ten minutes from Piccadilly Gardens.

A number of Bee Network buses also serve the stadium from Piccadilly Gardens, including the 230, 231, and the 216. Man City fans can also make use of 17 dedicated buses via the Matchday Bus Service.

If you’re driving, there is a pre-paid car park at the Etihad Campus, but this does fill up and sell out.

Finally, you could always walk it from Picadilly station in half an hour, while Greater Manchester has a bike share system.

When is the Man City Ticket Office Open?

Two hours before kick-off, and there are two main ticket office windows for in-person enquiries on matchdays. These can normally be found outside the Family Stand and the South Stand. With ongoing construction around the stadium, the windows may be temporarily relocated.

The Blue Carpet Experience at Man City

For families, the Blue Carpet Experience is an essential part of the matchday ritual. Taking place outside Colin Bell Stand, this pre-game event is focussed on the arrival of the City Team. You can expect Man City’s superstars to show up 90 minutes before kick-off, but there’s more going on beforehand. The Blue Carpet Experience Features:

  • The chance to welcome MCFC’s stars to the stadium
  • Live music
  • Food vendors
  • Matchday presenters
  • Special guests, including former Man City players
  • Post-match analysis

The Man City Kids Fanzone

There’s more going on around the Etihad Campus on matchdays. Another family-oriented event is the Man City Kids Fanzone, totally free and starting at City Football Academy 2 ½ hours before kick-off. This features:

  • Football skills sessions
  • Photo opportunities
  • Fun with the mascots Moonbeam and Moonchester
  • Hot food and drinks
  • Competitions and giveaways
  • An organised ‘March to the Match’

Tips for Visiting fans at Manchester City

  • There’s also a bar, food vendors and retail by the East Stand

How Many Tickets Can I Buy with a Man City Matchday Membership?

It depends on the opponent. Ticketing is sometimes limited to one Manchester City match ticket per Cityzens Matchday Membership.

However, when there’s less demand ,Manchester City Members are offered the opportunity to purchase additional seats before they hit general sale. For example, for the Man City vs Chelsea game in 2023-24, MCFC Members were able to purchase three tickets in their name.

Can You Buy Manchester City Tickets without Being a Member?

Yes, in theory. But in practice, the most popular Man City matches will never go on general sale. For these games, you’ll need to hit the secondary market or explore official hospitality resellers to stand a chance of securing Manchester City tickets.

City+ Subscriptions

Offering another way for Man City fans to follow their team, the club has one of the best streaming platforms of any Premier League team. City+ comes at a price, costing £5 a month for a subscription. You can save money on that by subscribing annually (£35), which is even cheaper if you’re a Manchester City Member (£30). Let’s look at what you get for that fee:

  • Full-match replays and highlights for all Man City games
  • Live coverage of some EDS and Academy games, as well as some Manchester City W.F.C. games and preseason first team matches
  • High-quality documentaries, interviews and behind-the-scenes content
  • Replays of classic Manchester City matches
  • Live audio coverage of first team games

Manchester City Season Tickets

A little different from other clubs, Manchester City has a number of season ticket tiers. We’ll cover them now:

  • Man City Gold Membership - This basic membership grants you a seat for all 19 home Premier League matches, and gives you 190 ticket points on joining
  • Man City Value Gold Membership - Offered only to renewing MCFC season ticket holders who want to sit in a specific seat for all 19 league games
  • Man City Flexi-Gold Membership - Recently introduced, this pay-as-you-go MCFC Season Ticket gives you a guaranteed seat but allows you to choose which games you want to attend, so you don’t have to risk losing your ticket by contravening the 14 Match Policy, which we’ll talk about below
  • Man City Platinum Membership - Similar to Gold Membership, but Platinum Membership comes with 380 points when you join, double the Gold total
  • Man City 93:20 Membership - This is the premium non-hospitality MCFC Season Ticket, with an upgraded matchday experiences and extra discounts

What is the Manchester City 14 Match Policy?

Unless you use a Flexi-Gold Membership you risk losing your MCFC Season Ticket if you fail to attend a match or re-list your seat on the Ticket Exchange for 14 or fewer matches a season. This is all to keep the stadium full and ensure that everyone who wants Man City tickets can get them.

How Many Manchester City Season Ticket Holders Are There?

At the last count there were close to 40,000 Manchester City Season Ticket holders. Weigh that up against a stadium capacity of 53,400 and you see how tricky it might be to buy Man City tickets, even with a Matchday Membership.

Man City Season Ticket Price

In 2024 a Manchester City Adult Gold Season Ticket ranges from £425 to £1,080. For U18s that works out at £200-£340, while concessions (18-21, disabled or over 65) the price is £280-£725.

The cheap Man City tickets are at the back of the South Stand, while the most expensive are on Level Two, around the halfway line in the East Stand.

In line with all Man City ticket prices, the cost of a season ticket has risen quite dramatically in the last few years. In spring 2024, after seven consecutive years of price rises the fan groups City Matters, MCFC Fans Foodbank Support and the 1894 Group all condemned the latest round of rises.

These came a few months after the club announced record profits of £80.4 million, and unveiled plans to redevelop The Etihad Stadium.

Tracking the Rise in the Man City Season Ticket Price

  • 2024-25 - £915
  • 2023-24 - £880
  • 2022-23 - £845
  • 2021-22 - £820

The prices above are for an adult MCFC Season Ticket in the lower tier of the East Stand.

Manchester City’s 93:20 Premium Seats

Not to be confused with hospitality, Manchester City sells upscale season tickets for prime locations in the longside stands. Costing £1,425-£1,600 for adults  These 93:20 Premium Seats pay tribute to Sergio Agüero’s iconic title-winning goal in 2011-12, and can be found in Blocks 221, 222 and half of 223 in the Colin Bell Stand, and Blocks 210, 209 and half of 207 in the East Stand.

Is there a Waiting List for Manchester City Season Tickets?

No. Availability differs by the season, but what usually happens is that Cityzen Members are given the opportunity to purchase a Man City Season Ticket when the window opens at the end of the season.

In the past this was open to all members on a first come, first served basis. However, things changed for 2024-25 MCFC Season Tickets. Demand had risen, so the club set a bar for Flexi-Gold Tickets according to how many matches applicants had attended in the two previous seasons (15). We go into more detail on this topic in our guide to the Manchester City Season Ticket waiting list.

Man City Ticket Exchange

As we’ve shown, Manchester City Season Ticket holders are put under a lot of pressure by the club to either attend a game or re-list their ticket on the MCFC Ticket Exchange. This is the club’s own official resale platform.

One of the more forgiving policies is that if you are guaranteed a refund for up to 12 matches, providing you re-list your ticket more than ten days before a given match, regardless if the ticket finds a new buyer.

The Ticket Exchange opens around four weeks before a match, and is active until three hours before kick-off. If your seat hasn’t been resold, it will be returned to you to use or transfer to a friend or family member.

Another option for passing tickets on is to use the club’s ticket transfer service, available through your MCFC ticketing account. You’ll see a list of tickets that you currently own, and can transfer the ticket to a predefined friend or family member.
