About Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest Football Club is an English professional football club based in Nottingham. The club was formed in 1865 and joined the Football League in 1892, having been previously rejected in 1888.    Nottingham Forest have been a football powerhouse in England, winning the league title once, the FA Cup twice and the European Cup twice. The club plays their home games at the the City Ground, which has been their home since 1898.   Forest have a very clear style of play that they aim to implement in every match. They want to dominate possession and use the ball to probe the opposition defence, looking for openings. When they have the ball, they will often switch it from flank to flank, using their pace on the wings to create chances.

Stadium information

Having served as home to the club since 1898, the City Ground has a capacity of 30,445. The stadium has been extensively redeveloped over the course of its history; it underwent a major redevelopment in the 1990s, rebuilding a number of stands to significantly increase capacity. The City Ground is also used for other events, such as music concerts and international football matches.

Honours and trophies

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a great deal of success in their history. They have lifted the FA Cup on two occasions, the League Cup on four occasions and the FA Charity shield on two occasions.   Forest have also enjoyed plenty of success in European competition. They won back-to-back European Cups in 1879 and 1980; a rare achievement for an English football club.

Team information

The club has had its share of notable players, including several who have represented their country on the international stage.    One of the most successful players in Forest's history is John McGovern, who helped the team win the European Cup in 1979. Other notable players include goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played for England in two FIFA World Cups, and striker Grenville Morris, who is the club's all-time leading scorer with 217 total goals.
