Newcastle United Membership Guide
Written by Liran Froind
If you are trying to get Newcastle tickets without committing to a season ticket, membership is the main primary route to home tickets at St James’ Park. The key thing to know is that membership can improve your access, but it does not guarantee tickets.
Newcastle’s current setup is built around three membership tiers: Mags+, The Mags, and Junior Mags.
In this guide, we will explain how much each one costs, what benefits they include, and how the ballot, member sale, and ticket exchange work in practice.
While the only way to guarantee yourself a seat for every Newcastle home game is via a season ticket, membership can still be a far cheaper way to give yourself a chance of watching the Toon in action throughout the season.

What official Newcastle membership packages are there?
Newcastle’s current membership offer is built around three tiers rather than a long list of packages. The club currently offers Mags+, The Mags, and Junior Mags, and these memberships are available to supporters in the UK and overseas through the same scheme.
Here is a quick comparison of the main options:
| Membership | Price | Who it is for | Key benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mags+ | $64 | Adult supporters | Home-ticket access, extra retail perks, selected pre-season streaming, exclusive in-person events, money-can’t-buy experiences, priority access to selected club events |
| The Mags | $50 | Adult supporters | Home-ticket access, NUFC ticket exchange access, retail discounts during the season, stadium-tour discount, Shearer’s Bar discounts, competitions, digital events, member-only content |
| Junior Mags | $27 | Supporters aged 0 to 17 | Home-ticket access, retail discounts, competitions, mascot opportunities, and a free stadium tour with a paying adult |
The Mags: Everything you need to know
The Mags is Newcastle’s standard adult membership and costs $50 per season.
Its current benefits include:
- Access to home Premier League tickets through the Mags Member Ballot
- Access to the Mags Member Sale
- Access to the Mags Member Ticket Exchange
- At least three retail discounts during the season
- 25% off stadium tours
- Discounts at Shearer’s Bar
- Exclusive competitions
- Digital events
- Member-only content, including full match replays
For most adult supporters, this is the core Newcastle membership product and the one to compare first if your main aim is improving your chances of getting home tickets.
Mags+: Everything you need to know
Mags+ costs $64 per season and includes everything in The Mags, plus a number of added perks.
These extras include:
- First access to selected retail launches
- A minimum of five seasonal retail discounts
- Selected pre-season streaming
- Money-can’t-buy experiences
- Exclusive in-person events
- Priority ticket access for selected special events at St James’ Park
The important point is that Mags+ does not improve your odds of getting a standard home match ticket compared with The Mags or Junior Mags. The extra $14 is for added benefits and experiences rather than better home-ticket probability.
Junior Mags: Everything you need to know
Junior Mags is the youth membership for supporters aged 0 to 17 and costs $27 per season.
Its benefits include:
- Access to home tickets through the same member channels
- Seasonal retail discounts
- Exclusive competitions
- Mascot opportunities
- A free stadium tour when accompanied by a paying adult
If you are buying for a younger Newcastle supporter, this is the relevant official option. Junior Mags cannot be upgraded into Mags+.
Does becoming a Newcastle member guarantee me tickets?
No. Membership gives you access to Newcastle’s home-ticket process, but it does not guarantee a ticket for any particular match.
For men’s home matches at St James’ Park, the current member route is:
- Mags Member Ballot
- Mags Member Sale
- Mags Member Ticket Exchange
That means membership gets you into the system, but demand still far exceeds supply for many fixtures.
It is also worth knowing that all three current membership tiers have equal access when it comes to standard home tickets. Mags+ comes with more perks, but it does not move you ahead of The Mags or Junior Mags in the ballot.
Each membership allows one application per match, and one membership entitles you to apply for one ticket. Group applications are possible, but every person in the group needs an active qualifying membership, and group size is currently capped at six for the ballot and member sale.

How does the current Newcastle home-ticket process work?
For home matches, members apply in one of three categories:
- Family Stand
- Rest of Stadium
- Accessible tickets
If your ballot application is successful, the lead booker receives an email and then has 48 hours to log in, select seats within the chosen area, and complete payment. If that deadline is missed, the allocation is lost and you would need to try again later in the member sale, subject to availability.
If you are unsuccessful in the ballot, you may still be able to buy through the Mags Member Sale, which is online only and open to qualifying members who do not already have a ticket for that fixture. Once the sale opens, Newcastle’s queue is randomised.
If the match is still sold out after that, the Mags Member Ticket Exchange gives eligible members the chance to buy seats released by season-ticket holders. These tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and can appear right up to three hours before kick-off.
For a fan view of how supporters think about the membership options, this discussion sums up some of the common questions well:
That kind of discussion is useful for context, but Newcastle’s official sale windows and eligibility rules are always the ones that matter on match-by-match ticketing.
If I receive a priority ticket, will I get to choose where I sit?
For home matches, yes, within limits.
Newcastle’s current process is not a simple assigned-seat ballot where you get whatever the club gives you.
Instead, if you are successful in the ballot, you choose from the seats available in the area you applied for, whether that is the Family Stand, the Rest of Stadium category, or Accessible seating.
So while you cannot browse the entire ground freely from the start, you do still have some seat choice within your selected ballot category.

Do I need to pay for a ticket once I get one?
Yes. Membership gives you access to the ticketing channels, but it is not a match ticket by itself.
If you are successful in the ballot, or if you buy through the member sale or the ticket exchange, you still need to pay the full ticket price within the relevant sales window.
Can the cost of my Newcastle membership increase?
Yes, membership prices can change from one season to the next.
For 2025/26, Newcastle’s published prices are $50 for The Mags, $64 for Mags+, and $27 for Junior Mags. Those figures may stay the same for a season, but there is no guarantee that prices will remain frozen in future campaigns.
Newcastle also allows memberships to be set to auto-renew. If you choose auto-renew when joining, your membership can renew automatically when the renewal period opens unless you change that setting. The club says it sends a reminder before renewal, or before manual renewals become available.
So if you do not want your membership to continue into the next season, make sure you check your renewal settings before the relevant deadline.

Can I stagger the cost of my Newcastle membership like a season ticket throughout the year?
There is currently no published Newcastle membership instalment plan in the club’s official membership guidance.
The club’s materials do explain renewal preferences and auto-renewal, but they do not set out a staged-payment option for memberships. By contrast, Newcastle’s season-ticket information does specifically refer to instalment options.
So, as things stand, membership should be treated as a one-off payment rather than a pay-monthly product.

Leazes Stand - Section L1D - offers a good view from behind the goal, and tickets in this area are reasonably priced.
Can I become a Newcastle member at any point in the season?
In practice, yes, membership can be available during the season.
Newcastle’s current membership pages show live join options for Mags+, The Mags, and Junior Mags, and the club has also run in-season membership promotions in the past. That means membership is not limited only to a short summer launch window.
That said, availability can still be managed by the club, and live purchase routes may change depending on demand and sales activity. If you are thinking about joining, it is usually better not to leave it too late.
Is there a waiting list for becoming a Newcastle member?
There is no formal official waiting list for standard Newcastle memberships.
That is an important distinction because supporters sometimes confuse membership with the club’s separate season-ticket waiting-list process. As things stand, if Mags+, The Mags, or Junior Mags are on sale, you can buy them. If they are unavailable, you need to wait until the club reopens sales.
Will becoming part of an official Newcastle membership package help me get a ticket for Cup finals or away games?
Not in any reliable or guaranteed way.
For Newcastle United away tickets, Newcastle’s current 2025/26 process is centred on season-ticket holders and loyalty points.
Applications usually open around four weeks before the fixture, and allocations are made in loyalty-point order, with only a small number of tickets potentially going to supporters below the main threshold. That means standard membership is not the main route into away tickets.
For cup finals and neutral-venue semi-finals, membership should also not be treated as a dependable path to tickets.
Eligibility for those fixtures is handled separately, and sale criteria are announced when the match exists. Even cup-scheme participation does not guarantee access to neutral-venue ties such as finals.
So if your main goal is Wembley or away-day access, membership alone should not be the basis of your plan.

Can I get access to hospitality with a Newcastle membership?
Membership is not a hospitality product.
What it can give you are a few related perks, such as 25% off stadium tours and discounts at Shearer’s Bar through The Mags benefits. Mags+ also includes priority access for selected special events at St James’ Park, but that is not the same as matchday hospitality.
If your priority is guaranteed entry without relying on the standard member ballot, hospitality is the more relevant route. Newcastle sells hospitality separately, and it is designed for supporters who want premium seating and a more straightforward way into high-demand fixtures.
Where you want to compare hospitality or other ticket options more efficiently, Ticket-Compare.com can be helpful as a comparison platform.
Rather than selling tickets directly, it aggregates options from multiple pre-vetted resale sites and official hospitality partners, reducing the need to keep switching between tabs before deciding where to buy.
Newcastle United Membership Guide: Conclusion
For most supporters without a Newcastle United season ticket, Newcastle membership is still the key official route into home matches at St James’ Park. The main choice is simple:
- Choose The Mags if you want the standard adult membership
- Choose Mags+ if you want extra perks, events, and retail benefits
- Choose Junior Mags if you are buying for a supporter aged 0 to 17
Whichever option you choose, the core ticket reality stays the same: membership improves access, but it does not guarantee a seat.
For home matches, your best chance comes through the ballot, the member sale, and the ticket exchange. For away matches, cup finals, and neutral-venue ties, membership is much less powerful and should not be treated as a guaranteed route.
If you miss out through the official route and want to compare what else is available, Ticket-Compare.com can be useful as a comparison platform.
