Luton Town FC are a professional football club based in Luton, Bedfordshire, and were founded in 1885. The club are nicknamed 'The Hatters' referencing the historical association of the town with the hat making industry.

Luton achieved promotion to the Premier League in the 2022-23 EFL Championship play-off final, making them the first football team to return to the top flight after successive relegations down to the fifth tier.

Stadium Information

Luton have played at Kenilworth Road stadium since 1905. With a capacity of 10,356, Kenilworth Road is the ground with the smallest capacity in the Premier League's history. It’s also known for its unusual entrance to the Oak Road End, which sits between a row of houses.

Kenilworth Road has hosted other events such as women's and youth international matches, including the 1984 European Competition for Women's final. It was also the venue for the Southern League until 1920, and the Football League until 2009.

Kenilworth Road is located in the district of Bury Park, which is around one mile west of the centre of Luton. The stadium is easy to get to, as Luton is a well-connected town. The nearest train station is Luton station, and from there it's a 15-20 minute walk. You can also get there by car if you exit the M1 and Junction 11 and head along the A505 dual carriageway.

Luton were the first team in Southern England to turn professional, and reached their first major final in 1959 for the FA Cup Final against Nottingham Forest. The club won the Second Division in 1981-82, and the Third Division in 2004-05 and 2018-19. They also won the Football League Trophy in 2008-09.

Kevin Nicholls is another Luton Town legend. He's widely regarded as one of Luton's most successful captains, having won two promotions and the Football League Trophy during his time there. Gordon Turner is the club's all-time top goalscorer, with 243 goals in the League and 276 overall, and Bob Morton made the most appearances for the club with 550.

Luton played 46 games, winning 21, drawing 17 and losing 8. Luton qualified for the Championship play-offs, where they beat Coventry City for a place in the Premier League.
