How Long Is the Waiting List for an Ipswich Town Season Ticket?

Ipswich Town’s season ticket waiting list has more than 6,000 supporters competing for the limited number of seats that become available at Portman Road.

The club has approximately 21,000 season ticket holders and did not hold an ordinary public sale for new buyers ahead of the 2026/27 season. Instead, any available season tickets are offered through the waiting list.

There is no official estimate of how many years a supporter will have to wait to get to the front of the queue. What’s more the waiting list is restricted to fans with a membership history, as we’ll explain in this article.

Everyone who joined the waiting list during the first application window in 2025 was given a randomly allocated queue position, which means the likely wait depends on that position, the number of existing holders who do not renew and whether the club releases any additional seats.

For supporters near the back of a list containing more than 6,000 people, a multi-year wait is a realistic possibility. A place on the list does not guarantee an offer during a particular season.

So Just How Long Is the Ipswich Town Season Ticket Waiting List?

Ipswich Town cannot give every supporter a reliable waiting time estimate because season tickets do not become available at a fixed rate.

The club generally gives its approximately 21,000 existing holders the first opportunity to renew. Only after that process can it establish whether any seats can be offered to supporters on the waiting list.

Several factors determine how quickly the queue moves:

• How many existing season ticket holders decide not to renew.
• Whether seats are removed from or added to the season ticket allocation.
• Changes to segregation, hospitality, accessible seating or operational requirements.
• Whether supporters ahead of you decline the seats they are offered.
• Future changes to Portman Road’s capacity.

A queue position is therefore best understood as an order of priority, not a countdown to a guaranteed purchase date.

How the Ipswich waiting list works

Ipswich Town launched the waiting list on 15 October 2025.

The first application window was not open to every supporter. Applicants had to have held Super Blues, International Blues or Junior Blues membership, including Foals, in either 2023/24 or 2024/25 and renewed their membership for 2025/26.

The window remained open until 5pm on 1 December 2025. After that, first-time members in 2025/26 were eligible to join the list in 2026/27 provided they maintained their membership. Indeed, a valid membership is needed if you want to stay on the list.

Registration time does not determine priority as everyone who applied before the deadline was placed into a randomly ordered queue.

Signing up on the first day therefore provided no advantage over registering close to the deadline. Individual and group applications were accepted, provided every person included met the eligibility conditions.

Supporters received their positions on 21 July 2026. Those positions can be used when season tickets become available, but the club did not announce a large-scale release of 2026/27 seats to the list.

How Many Ipswich Town Season Ticket Holders Are There?

Ipswich Town have approximately 21,000 season ticket holders for the 2026/27 season.

That number represents a remarkable rise in demand. The total was a little under 9,000 during the pandemic-affected 2020/21 season, increased to around 13,800 in 2021/22 and reached 17,877 during the 2022/23 League One promotion campaign.

By 2023/24, the club had passed 21,000 season ticket holders.

Ipswich have chosen to keep the total at around that level so that some Portman Road seats remain available for members, individual match sales, hospitality, away supporters and other operational requirements.

The club currently lists 26,243 covered home seats at Portman Road. Approximately four-fifths of that stated home capacity is therefore associated with season tickets before hospitality, media, complimentary tickets, accessibility requirements and other allocations are considered.

This explains why only a small number of new season tickets can be offered without a reduction in match-by-match availability or an increase in stadium capacity.

How Much Does an Ipswich Town Season Ticket Cost?

Standard adult renewal prices for 2026/27 range from $633 to $1,008. Premium adult seats cost up to $1,249.

These are renewal prices for existing season ticket holders. Ipswich did not publish a separate new-customer price because there was no conventional sale to first-time buyers.

Accessible areas have separate price points and eligibility requirements. Adult accessible-season ticket prices range from $457 to $596, depending on the location.

The cheapest standard adult seats are in the lower tiers of the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey stands at $633. Adult seats in West Stand family Blocks FF, GG, I2 and JJ cost $629.

The highest standard adult price is $1,008 in West Stand Blocks H, H2, N and O and Cobbold Block C.

Premium Ipswich season tickets

The 2026/27 price structure contains two principal premium general-admission locations:

• Block Y in the West Stand, priced at $1,152 for an adult.
• Block X in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand, priced at $1,249 for an adult.

These should not be confused with full hospitality packages. They are premium seating products within the season ticket price structure.

How much does an Ipswich season ticket cost per match?

An Ipswich season ticket covers all 19 home Premier League fixtures.

Ipswich raised season ticket prices by approximately 12% for 2026/27. The change in the number of included league fixtures makes the per-match increase larger.

A $565 lower-tier ticket covered 23 Championship matches in 2025/26, working out at approximately $25 per game. The equivalent $633 ticket covers 19 Premier League matches at approximately $33 per game, an increase of around 35.5% for each included league fixture.

How have Ipswich season ticket prices risen?

The most striking historical comparison comes from equivalent lower- and upper-tier adult renewal prices.

The cheapest standard lower-tier adult renewal has risen by approximately 40.8% since 2021/22. The comparable upper-tier price has increased by approximately 39%.

Under-12 season tickets have been held at $66 since 2024/25, although that price is only available in designated areas.

How have prices risen after inflation?

General UK prices rose by approximately 29.1% between April 2021 and April 2026, according to the Consumer Prices Index.

This means a $449 season ticket in 2021 would cost around $580 in 2026 if it had increased only in line with inflation, while a $599 ticket would be equivalent to approximately $773.

The nominal increases of 40.8% and 39% are therefore considerably smaller once inflation is taken into account.

Even so, both season tickets have become more expensive in real terms: the lower-tier price is around $53 above its inflation-adjusted equivalent, while the upper-tier price is approximately $59 higher.

Ipswich Town Half-Season Tickets

Ipswich have sold half-season tickets during lower-demand periods, generally covering the home matches played during the second half of a campaign.

No half-season ticket sale has been announced for 2026/27.

With approximately 21,000 full-season holders and more than 6,000 supporters waiting for an opportunity to buy, a broad half-season sale appears unlikely unless the club identifies additional capacity later in the campaign.

Supporters should not plan around half-season availability unless Ipswich publish a specific sales announcement.

When Are Ipswich Town Season Tickets Renewed?

Ipswich generally launch renewals between late March and the end of April, although the precise timetable varies according to the club’s division and operational requirements.

For 2026/27, holders paying through the interest-free Direct Debit scheme were generally renewed automatically unless they cancelled by 5pm on 20 April.

Supporters completing the process sufficiently early could spread the cost across 12 monthly instalments. Later Direct Debit renewals were divided across 11 payments.

A holder who missed the 1 May deadline lost the automatic right to retain the seat. Supporters not paying by Direct Debit could renew online or in person at Planet Blue.

When do newcomers get the chance to buy?

There is no fixed date on which new Ipswich season tickets go on general sale.

Until 2023, first-time and lapsed buyers could often purchase during an early-bird or full-price sales phase. Demand eventually made an ordinary newcomer window impractical.

A prospective buyer needs:

• Eligibility to join the waiting list during an application window.
• A sufficiently favourable randomly allocated queue position.
• Existing holders to release seats or the club to increase the allocation.
• To accept an available seat during the purchase period offered by Ipswich.

Membership does not by itself guarantee a future season ticket. It has, however, formed part of the eligibility criteria for joining and retaining a position on the waiting list.

Can I move my Ipswich season ticket seat?

Ipswich can hold a seat-move process after renewals have been completed.

A holder wishing to relocate must normally renew the existing seat first. This protects the season ticket while the club establishes which alternative seats are available.

Seat moves are not guaranteed. Availability may be particularly limited for supporters seeking several adjacent seats, family areas, lower price bands or the most popular central locations.

Where Do Ipswich Town Season Ticket Holders Sit?

Season ticket holders are spread throughout all four sides of Portman Road, although Ipswich do not publish a precise count for each stand.

Sir Bobby Robson Stand

Both tiers contain season ticket seating:

• Lower tier: Blocks 4, 5 and 6.
• Upper tier: Blocks 1, 2 and 3.
• Accessible areas: D1 to D4.

The Sir Bobby Robson Stand is closely associated with some of Portman Road’s most vocal home support. Under-12 season tickets are not offered in this stand.

Sir Alf Ramsey Stand

Season ticket areas include:

• Lower tier: Blocks 4, 5 and 6.
• Upper tier: Blocks 1, 2 and 3.
• Premium seating: Block X.
• Accessible areas: SD, P1 and P2.

The lower tier is one of the principal family locations offering the $66 under-12 season ticket.

West Stand

The West Stand contains the broadest mixture of season ticket products:

• Central and higher-priced locations in H, H2, N and O.
• Mid-priced sections including G, I, M, P, Q, J and R.
• Family seating in FF, GG, I2 and JJ.
• Additional family-oriented areas in F, K and L.
• Premium seating in Block Y.
• Accessible seating in DA.

Cobbold Stand

Home season tickets are listed in Blocks A, B, C, T, T2, U and U2.

The Cobbold also accommodates away supporters, segregation and operational areas, leaving less space for permanent home season ticket seating than the other sides of the stadium.

The largest concentrations of season ticket holders are likely to be in the two end stands and the West Stand, but no official breakdown allows the stands to be ranked precisely.

What Are the Benefits of an Ipswich Town Season Ticket?

A seat for every home league match

The defining benefit is guaranteed access to all 19 home Premier League fixtures.

Season ticket holders do not need to enter home ticket ballots or compete during high-demand member sales for their usual seat. That certainty is especially valuable at a stadium where individual match tickets are limited.

The lowest dependable price for regular attendance

Ipswich describe the season ticket as the route to watching home league matches at the best available regular price.

The cheapest standard adult ticket works out at approximately $33 per league match, while an eligible under-12 ticket costs approximately $3 per game.

The right to retain the same seat

Renewing protects the holder’s established place at Portman Road.

With thousands of supporters waiting and season ticket numbers capped at around 21,000, retaining a familiar seat is a significant benefit in its own right.

Interest-free monthly payments

The Direct Debit scheme allows holders to spread the cost without interest.

Supporters who remain on the scheme are generally renewed automatically, provided payments remain up to date and they do not cancel before the stated deadline.

Official resale and ticket forwarding

A holder who cannot attend may have several club-authorised options:

• List the seat through the official ticket exchange when it is open.
• Forward or upgrade the seat for an appropriate family member or friend.
• Donate the seat for use through the Ipswich Town Foundation.

The precise option and deadline can vary by fixture.

These routes help return unused seats to circulation. The club reported a season ticket no-show rate of approximately 10 to 12% during 2025/26, despite thousands of supporters waiting for tickets.

Unauthorised resale or transfer can lead to the season ticket being cancelled.

Some priority for away tickets

A season ticket can provide a later priority window for away matches, but it does not place the holder at the front of the queue.

Members with the required Away Priority Points generally receive access first. Season ticket holders may then be given a purchase window before any broader sale.

Supporters who regularly travel away usually need both membership and a suitable Away Priority Points balance.

Digital entry

Season tickets for 2026/27 are issued primarily as digital passes stored in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Supporters should add the pass to a compatible device before travelling and ensure that the device is charged on matchday.

Ipswich provide an exemption process for people who genuinely require a physical alternative in exceptional circumstances.

Could the Ipswich Town Season ticket Waiting List Change?

The waiting list could move more quickly if:

• More existing holders decide not to renew.
• Ipswich increase the proportion of Portman Road allocated to season tickets.
• Stadium work creates additional usable home seating.
• Supporters ahead in the queue decline their offers.
• The club releases seats that had been reserved for another purpose.

It could move slowly if renewal rates remain high and Ipswich preserve the cap of around 21,000.

League position may affect demand, but the rise in season ticket sales began before the club reached the Premier League. Ipswich sold around 17,877 season tickets during the 2022/23 League One promotion season and passed 21,000 during the following Championship campaign.

Substantial movement is therefore unlikely to depend on results alone. Capacity and the number of seats reserved for individual match access are likely to be more important.

Is an Ipswich Town Season Ticket Worth the Wait?

For a supporter who wants to attend every home league match, an Ipswich season ticket provides something that membership cannot: certainty.

The holder has the same seat for all 19 Premier League home fixtures, avoids the home ticket ballot process and pays a lower dependable per-match price than an occasional buyer attending regularly.

Getting one is difficult; in fact, simply joining the waiting list is tricky. More than 6,000 people are waiting, positions were allocated randomly and only limited numbers are likely to become available through non-renewals.

There is no official answer to how many years the wait will take. Your queue position is the best indication, but the decisive factor is how many seats Ipswich can release when each renewal process has finished.
