What Are Wimbledon Debenture Seats?

All of the Wimbledon tickets available on Ticket Compare are Debenture seats, resold on the secondary market with the official authorisation of the All England Club.

Across the whole tournament some 2,520 seats at Centre Court and 1,250 at No.1 Court are reserved for Wimbledon Debenture holders.

  • These are people who have invested in a kind of five-year bond, granting them some of the best seats on Centre Court for five consecutive years.
  • Debenture tickets are transferable, so owners are free to sell their seat to the public at a price of their choosing.
  • Debenture tickets are also issued for No. 1 Court across the first eleven days of the tournament.
  • As investments, Wimbledon Debentures are for people with a bit of money to burn, priced at $109,664 for Centre Court and $63,057 for No. 1 Court.
  • Wimbledon Debentures are sold by the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club as a way of raising money for improvements to Wimbledon’s facilities.

Debenture holders have every right to sell their tickets to the public, making them available for all days and rounds including Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s finals.

This upscale premium option is one way of avoiding the notorious Wimbledon Queue.

What Do You Get with Wimbledon Debenture Tickets?

Wimbledon Debenture tickets give a high-end day out at The Championships, with premium seating and a range of exclusive amenities only available to Debenture holders.

So when you buy Wimbledon Debenture tickets, you get:

  • A reserved, prime location seat, either on Centre Court (Rows A - N) or No.1 Court (Rows A - Q) for an entire day’s play
  • Access to the exclusive Debenture Holders’ areas, including private lounges, bars, and restaurants inside the Grounds
  • Priority entry through the exclusive Debenture Holders’ gate for extra convenience
  • Access to most outer courts at the All England Club on a first come, first served basis)
  • Guaranteed seating in pairs, with efforts made to group larger bookings if possible

Unlike standard Wimbledon tickets, Debenture tickets are the only type that can legally be resold, giving you peace of mind that your ticket is valid and won’t be cancelled.

This is just one of many reasons why they’re so highly sought after, not only by tennis fans, but also by celebrities, athletes, and high-profile guests from around the world.

In addition, you’ll benefit from:

  • Optional fine dining reservations in exclusive Wimbledon restaurants (pre-booking required)
  • Some of the best sightlines at Centre Court and No.1 Court, with seats often located level with the Royal Box on Centre Court

Face Value Wimbledon Tickets 2025

Standard Wimbledon ticket prices range from as little as $27 for a Grounds Pass on the final weekend to $432 for a premium Centre Court seat during the Finals.

The face value price of Wimbledon Centre Court tickets start at $103 in the upper rows (ZA - ZF) on the first two days, and then rise steadily as the tournament progresses.

By the quarterfinals (Day 9 - 10), prices for the best seats (Rows A-T) reach $315, eventually peaking at $432 for the Men’s and Women’s finals.

No.1 Court is a little more affordable, with face value prices of these Wimbledon tickets ranging from $55 to $288.

In the opening rounds of the tournament, courtside seats (Rows A - Q) cost around $123 - $247, but prices then surge to $288 during the second week before dropping sharply on the final day of action to $82 - $55 as all eyes turn to Centre Court.

Finally, Grounds Passes, the cheapest Wimbledon tickets, give access to the complex rather than specific seats—start at $41 during the first week, when the outer courts are full of matches and there's great access to rising stars. From Day 9 onward, the price gradually decreases:

  • $34 during the Quarter Finals (Days 9 - 11)
  • $27 from the Semi Finals to the final (Days 12 - 14)

This is all down to the reduced play on outside courts later in the tournament. By that point in the schedule, most action is on Centre Court and shown on the big screen at The Hill.

In short:

  • Best value early: Grounds Passes and lower-tier Centre Court seats in Week 1
  • Biggest spikes: Centre Court during Quarter Finals and Finals weekend
  • Smart picks: No.1 Court Days 5 - 8 or upper-row Centre Court seats early on

Wimbledon Tickets 2025 | Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Wimbledon ticket ballot?

The Wimbledon ticket ballot is a lottery system, running for more than 100 years and selling around 80% of Wimbledon tickets each year.

The ballot was launched in 1924 and is designed to make tickets for Wimbledon available to the public in the fairest way possible.

By doing that they turn the whole process into a random draw. The ballot is so oversubscribed that your chances of obtaining tickets this way are long to say the least. The current estimate is a 1 in 10 likelihood.

The sense of randomness also extends to the Wimbledon 2025 tickets you receive, if you are fortunate enough to get them. You have absolutely no say on which court or the day you attend.

Photo of tennis player on a court

When is the Wimbledon ticket ballot?

The application phase for The Ballot usually takes place between mid-October and mid-November in the year before the Championships. If you miss the deadline, then bad luck, because you can’t enter it after it closes.

If you are successful they will send you an email in the new year, most likely around early February. At that point you will be required to make a card payment to secure your tickets.

How many tickets can I buy in the Wimbledon ballot?

Each entrant in The Ballot can apply for a maximum of two tickets. The rules are so strict that if someone else from your household enters The Ballot, your entry will be declared null and void.

Now, if you’re wondering how to buy Wimbledon tickets without the Ballot, simply browse the large array of seats on Ticket Compare.

How does the Wimbledon queue work?

The Queue is a way to buy Wimbledon tickets in person, beginning on the Sunday before the tournament starts. For the most coveted tickets, you can get in line the evening before the day you want to attend.

Everyone else will join The Queue on the same day, usually in the hope of snagging Grounds Passes—again, these are the cheapest Wimbledon tickets but do not include entry to the most prestigious courts.

You join the line at Wimbledon Park, not far from Southfields Station, and the waiting game begins. On arrival you’ll be given a timed Queue card that you have to show to the ticket office when you finally arrive.

A recent addition to the process is the Wimbledon app. You have to download this and set up a myWimbledon account to check into The Queue.

Photo of Queue Card on a grass

How long will I have to queue for Wimbledon tickets?

There is no definitive answer to this question. All we can say is that there’s a strong chance you’ll be waiting for a long time. For Centre Court or Court No. 1 tickets your best hope is to wait overnight.

What tickets are available in the Wimbledon queue?

The Wimbledon Queue tickets are sold daily on a first come, first served basis, and there are four categories:

  • Centre Court - 500 Queue tickets (except for the final four days) in a 14,979-capacity arena
  • No. 1 Court - 500 Queue tickets allocated from a total of 12,345
  • No. 2 Court - 500 Queue tickets allocated from a total of 4,000
  • Grounds Pass, which offers access to all other courts, as well as The Hill

When things get busy, Wimbledon Grounds Passes are only issued on a one in, one out basis, so unless you get there early you may be in for a frustrating wait.

However, things do loosen up in the evenings when there’s less demand. If you don’t mind tennis tickets that give you  just a couple of hours of action, you can join the Wimbledon Queue after 5 pm for a reduced price, with shorter waiting times.

What can I bring to the Wimbledon queue?

You cannot bring a bag larger than 40 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm in the All England Club. However, Wimbledon Park, adjoining The Queue, has a left luggage area where you can store medium-sized bags.

Apart from that, you’re allowed a tent, which can be no larger than a two-person. Don’t worry about oversleeping, because the stewards will wake everyone at 6 am.

Is there a dress code for Wimbledon spectators?

While there is no specific dress code for Wimbledon, you may find that you fit in better with smart-casual clothing.

This is particularly true if you have Centre Court tickets or Court One tickets, where there’s a more upmarket ambience.

How to get second hand Wimbledon tickets?
