Getting to Emirates Stadium
Getting to Emirates Stadium
Everything’s ready for your matchday at the Emirates: You’ve got your Arsenal tickets, scarf, and this season’s gaudy away shirt. Now, you just need to worry about getting to Emirates Stadium—no small task in London’s sprawling transport network.
We’ll guide you through every transport option, outlining the pros, cons, prices, and journey times from major London interchanges. Let’s start with the fastest and most convenient option: The Tube.
Getting to Emirates Stadium By Tube and Train: The Quickest Way to Get to Arsenal Matches
The Tube, Overground and local National Rail services are the fastest, most convenient ways for Arsenal supporters to get to and from matches at the Emirates. There are three main stations within a 15-minute walking radius of ground. We’ll talk about them in detail now.
Arsenal Tube Station
- On the Piccadilly Line (Dark Blue)
- Three-minute walk to the north-east of the ground
On the Piccadilly Line you can get to this station from the West End in 13 minutes stop-to-stop. If there’s a drawback to Arsenal Station it’s accessibility; as with many Underground stations there are unavoidable steps from the platform to the exit.
Finsbury Park Station
- On the Piccadilly and Victoria Lines (Blue)
- A little over 10 minutes on foot to the north of the stadium
This station is a major interchange, with Thameslink and Great Northern rail services. Finsbury Park is the best train station to get to Arsenal.
Finsbury Park is also wheelchair accessible, and the route to and from the station should have the least amount of foot traffic on Arsenal matchdays.
Highbury & Islington Station
- On the Victoria Line, as well as the Overground Midmay Line (Light Blue), East London Line (Dark Orange) and Northern City Line rail services
- Just under 15 minutes south of Emirates Stadium on foot
Highbury & Islington Station has partial accessibility, provided only on the Overground platforms.
Holloway Road Station
Also on the Piccadilly Line, this station is just a two-minute walk from the south end of the ground. Note that Holloway Road Station is EXIT-ONLY on Arsenal matchdays.
Drayton Park Station
On the south-eastern corner of the ground this railway station is also on the Northern City Line. Note that this station is CLOSED on Arsenal matchdays.
King’s Cross: The Transport Hub for Arsenal Matchdays
The nearest major interchange to the Emirates is London King’s Cross, one of the busiest transport hubs in the UK. Here are a few of the services coming through this station:
- East Coast Main Line trains from the North East of England
- International Eurostar Services via St Pancras International next door
- Suburban Thameslink services
- Great Northern Trains from Cambridge
- London Underground services via the Circle Line (Yellow), Hammersmith & City Line (Pink), Metropolitan Line (Magenta), Northern Line (Black), Piccadilly Line and Victoria Line.
Tube Ticket Prices for Emirates Stadium
Most journeys to the Emirates will be off-peak (weekends and after 7:00 PM on a weekday).
So with that in mind, a single journey will cost £2.80 if you’re travelling from a Central London station in Zone 1. If you use the Underground over the course of a day, the charges will cap at £8.50.
Alternatively, why not get the bus? For one thing it saves the hassle of navigating the bowels of Tube stations.
TfL Buses: A Hassle-Free Way to Get to Emirates Stadium
By our count, more than 20 TfL bus routes pass within a ten-minute walk of the Emirates Stadium. A cheap, accessible way to get around, buses are also frequent and comfortable.
You may be surprised just how many locations around London have a direct bus connection to the Emirates.
In fact, as we’ll show below, if you’re sick of the Underground you could get out at most London terminals, from Charing Cross to Liverpool Street, and hop on a bus straight to the ground.
Now, this is not a high-speed option, but will suit Arsenal fans saving money, avoiding transfers, or making shorter trips.
Here’s a condensed list of buses serving The Emirates:
- 4: Archway Station to Blackfriars Station
- 29: Lordship Lane to Trafalgar Square
- 30: Portman Street to Hackney Wick
- 43: Halliwick Park to London Bridge
- 91: Crouch End to Whitehall/Trafalgar Square
- 153: Finsbury Park to Liverpool Street Station
- 253: Hackney Central Station to Euston Station
- 254: Aldgate to Caledonian Road
- 259: Edmonton Green to King’s Cross Station
- 277: Dalston Junction to Isle of Dogs
- 393: Clapton to Chalk Farm Road
How Much Does it Cost to Catch the Bus to the Emirates?
For an adult, a single bus journey will cost £1.75. If you end up using the bus several times throughout the day, the total cost will be capped at £5.25.
So you’ve got Emirates stadium tickets. Maybe you’re thinking of driving to the game. Give us a chance to talk you out of it next.
Driving to Emirates Stadium: Why It’s Not the Best Option
Arsenal’s stadium is just north of Central London in a densely populated neighbourhood.
Aside from main roads like the Holloway Road (A1), where parking is non-existent, most of the streets around the stadium are residential. Parking is extremely limited here, and Islington Council enforces measures to ensure that local residents and businesses are unaffected.
So on Arsenal matchdays there are severe parking restrictions and inflated charges for outside vehicles. If you park in a residents-only space your car will be towed.
In the unlikely event that you do find a valid parking space on a residential road, it will cost £12.50 per hour plus:
£2 - £3.75 per hour for petrol vehicles
£6.50 per hour for diesel vehicles
£2 per hour for electric vehicles
Getting to Emirates Stadium by Taxi
A more viable alternative is to catch a London black cab. These iconic taxis can be hailed on the street, caught from designated ranks outside stations, and also booked by phone or an app.
Here’s a rough sense of the London black cab fare for the Emirates in 2024-24:
Distance (Miles) | Journey Time (Minutes) | Price (£) |
1 | 6 - 13 | 7.60 - 12 |
2 | 10 - 20 | 12.20 - 18.60 |
4 | 16 - 30 | 22 - 30 |
6 | 28 - 40 | 38 - 42 |
If a cab seems pricey, more and more Londoners are discovering the low-cost joys of bicycles. We’ll delve into the two-wheeled option next.
Cycling to the Emirates: Easier than Ever
One of the drawbacks to using public transport to get to an Arsenal match is the queuing. This is inevitable, especially after full-time.
One way to avoid all this is to cycle to the Emirates. In the 2024-25 season, Cycling in London is better than ever, and continues to improve. A network of official Transport for London Cycleways is spreading across the capital. Here’s what Cycleways offer:
- Safe, high-quality and clearly-signposted routes designated for cyclists.
- A mix of protected lanes on roads, as well as routes on quieter back streets and traffic-free paths.
Here’s a list of Cycleways passing close to the Emirates:
- C1: Liverpool Street to Tottenham
- C6: Elephant & Castle to Kentish Town
- C38: Pentonville Road to Finsbury Park
Bikeshare Schemes to Get to the Emirates
If you don’t have your own set of wheels there are several bikeshare schemes running in the capital. We’ll list them below and briefly outline their tariffs for pedal bikes:
- TfL Santander Cycles: 30-minute single rides for £1.65, and then £1.65 for every subsequent half-hour
- Lime: £1 to unlock and then 29p per minute (prices can vary)
- Forest: £1 unlock fee, 10 free minutes, and then 29p a minute.
The drawback for TfL Santander Cycles is the lack of docking stations near Emirates Stadium, which will bump up the cost significantly.
Parking a Bicycle at Emirates Stadium
There’s a safe parking area for bicycles a few steps from the stadium at the Highbury House store on Drayton Park.
Alternatively you could use the Finsbury Park Cycle Hub at the station, offering safe storage for hundreds of bicycles at just 50p a day.
On the opposite end of the distance spectrum, we’ll move on to international travel to the Emirates below.

London is served by six international airports for passenger flights. These are:
- London City (LCY)

Travelling internationally by train, London’s Eurostar terminal is St Pancras International, just 15 minutes on the tube from Emirates Stadium.
What is the Easiest Airport for Arsenal Matches?
- London City is about 45 minutes door-to-door using public transport, but is also the smallest airport, with limited flights.
- London Heathrow is about an hour from the stadium via the Heathrow Express shuttle and tube from Paddington (Bakerloo Line and Victoria Line).
- London Stansted is just over an hour from the Emirates via the Stansted Express shuttle and the tube from Liverpool Street (Circle Line and Piccadilly Line).
