Learn about Southampton Memberships, season tickets, and benefits for 2024-25. Discover perks, prices, and how to secure your seat at St Mary's Stadium

With Saints back in the Premier League, it’s not easy to get matches at St. Mary’s. Southampton Season Tickets sell out every year, so a Southampton Membership is the main way to buy tickets for Saints matches through official channels. In this article we’ll explore everything you get with a Southampton Membership, and will also look into Saints Season Tickets and seasonal hospitality.

Southampton Membership Benefits

The club has coordinated with fans to make being a SFC Member much simpler. Where there used to be a variety of Southampton Memberships there’s now one package for adults and one for juniors, as we’ll explain below. We’ll look at the benefits of every package from basic Southampton Membership to a Southampton Season Ticket.

Saints Membership

At £30, the standard adult Southampton Membership is reasonably priced compared to other Premier League memberships. This package gives you a big advantage when it comes to buying primary market Southampton tickets, as we’ll show in the list of perks. With a Saints Membership you get:

  • Priority access to home SFC tickets
  • A £5 discount to tickets for Category C Southampton matches (usually lower-table PL opponents)

To show your devotion to the club you could upgrade your Saints Membership with a Bolt-On, which comes with a raft of benefits, which we’ll show now.

Saints Membership Silver Bolt-On

Costing £75 this SFC Membership package has no extra ticketing benefits over the standard Saints Membership. What it does give you is a raft of extra features relating to merchandise. Let’s delve into them now:

In the next section we’ll explain the pricing for Southampton Season Tickets.

How much Do Southampton Season Tickets Cost?

As Southampton has suffered a bumpy few years on the pitch, the price of a Southampton Season ticket has fluctuated in the same way. After six consecutive seasons of prize freezes, from 2017-18 to 2023-24, the price sank 10% after the club was relegated to the Championship in 2023.

When Southampton won promotion back to the Premier League the club announced a 15% increase in certain sections, working out at 5% net over the last two years. In real terms, with inflation taken into account, the price of a Saints Season Ticket is now lower than it was in 2016-17.

There is a difference in the price offered to people purchasing new Southampton Season Tickets compared to those who are renewing, as we’ll illustrate now.

Southampton Season Ticket Pricing

Which Former Southampton Players Work in Hospitality at Southampton?

A changing lineup of former Saints players appears at Southampton’s hospitality lounges. Now there are no guarantees who you will bump into, but we’ll give you a list of Saints legends who have done hospitality work for the club in recent seasons:

Franny Benali

Almost ever-present at St Mary’s Stadium, Franny Benali was an uncompromising full-back who came through the Southampton youth system and made 366 appearances for the club across 16 years from 1988 to 2004. In retirement Franny has become known for his charitable endurance activities, like running and cycling to all 44 Premier League and Championship stadiums in two weeks for Cancer Research UK.

Matt Le Tissier

One of the most gifted players England has ever produced, Le Tissier was an inventful attacking-midfielder scoring some of the finest goals seen on these shores. In 16 years from 1986 to 2002 he played for Southampton 540 times, scoring 209 goals.

James Beattie

A talented centre-forward, Beattie joined Southampton from Blackburn in 1998 and went on to score 76 goals in 235 appearances for the club. His goals helped Saints reach the FA Cup final in 2003.

Mark Dennis

A rugged full-back, Dennis’s time at Southampton coincided with a successful period at the club. During a four-year stint He helped Saints to a second-place finish in the First Division in 1983-84.

Glenn Cockerill

A stylish goalscoring midfielder, Cockerill was a constant part of the entertaining Southampton teams of the late 1980s and early 90s. In a 22 year professional career, Cockerill played more than 850 times, scoring 99 goals, 39 for Southampton.

Returning to general admission, we’ll address some extra details about buying Saints Tickets with a membership.

Buying Southampton Tickets with a Membership

When Saints tickets go on sale, Southampton Members will get the chance to jump the queue before a match hits general sale.

It’s the only reliable way to secure Southampton home tickets on the primary market, because there’s a big appetite among Saints fans. Even in the Championship, attendance at St Mary’s was close to 95% and most matches sold out.

We established earlier that Saints Members get first dibs. There is a catch though. If it’s a Category A game against big opponents like Manchester United, you need to have purchased Southampton Tickets with a Saints Membership over one of the previous four seasons. Naturally, this is to prevent Man U fans sitting in the home sections.

Some time after the members’ window (a week or more), there’s an additional window for Southampton Season Ticket holders to purchase two additional tickets. This is all before a match goes on general sale to the wider public.

What are Category C Southampton Matches?

We mentioned earlier that SFC Members are eligible for a £5 discount on Category C matches. These are home Southampton matches that are less popular than Category A and Category B games. So they won’t feature a Premier League giant or a local rival.

Instead, Southampton Category C matches are against mid-table and lower-table Premier League clubs based outside the South of England. These, for example. include teams like Nottingham Forest or Ipswich Town.

Purchasing Southampton Tickets on the Ticket Exchange

If a Southampton home match sells out, the club will open its Ticket Exchange service. This is an official resale platform that allows Southampton Season Ticket holders to list their seat for sale to Southampton Members, and earn credit for it on their online account.

Buying Southampton Away Tickets

It’s much tougher for new Southampton members to buy tickets to see Southampton on their travels. The obvious reason is that even at the largest Premier League stadiums, away allocations are rarely more than 3,000. Primary market away tickets are also in demand because they never cost more than £30.

For this reason the club limits the early phases of the sales windows for away tickets to Saints Season Ticket holders, with priority for those who attended multiple away matches in the previous season. A typical window might look like this:

  • Day 1: 9:30 AM: Season Ticket holders who attended 5+ away matches.
  • Day 1: 11:30 AM - Season Ticket holders who attended 4+ away matches
  • Day 2: 9:30 AM - Season Ticket holders who attended 3+ away matches
  • Day 2: 11:30 AM - Season Ticket holders who attended 2+ away matches

You get the point. If there are any tickets remaining after Day 3, Saints Members and Junior Members can pick up any remaining away tickets.

In the following section we’ll address a few queries that come up about Southampton Memberships

Frequently Asked Questions about Southampton Membership

Does Buying a Southampton Membership Guarantee Me Tickets?

No, but it does give you a better chance of buying them on the primary market.

Can I Become a Southampton Member at Any Point in the Season?

Yes, you can buy a Saints Membership any time before the final matches go on sale at the end of the season. It’s worth restating that in order to buy tickets for Category A matches you do need a purchase history.

Is there a Waiting List to Become a Southampton Member?

No, Southampton Memberships go on sale around July and there are no restrictions.

Can I Stagger the Cost of my Southampton Membership throughout the Year?

No. Some clubs offer financing options on small purchases like this, but Southampton isn’t one of them.

Can I Get Access to Southampton Hospitality with a Saints Membership?

No, sadly. As we covered above, some SFC Season Ticket holders can get one-off hospitality experiences if they purchase gold or platinum Bolt-Ons.

Buying Southampton Tickets without a Membership

It’s not practical to wait for Southampton matches to go on general sale. As we showed above, Saints Members and Season Ticket holders have ample opportunity to snap up all of the remaining tickets for home matches. Typically there aren’t more than 4,000 general admission seats available to Southampton Members.

If the team is doing badly or the match is at an awkward time, then some home matches will not sell out before being made available to the wider public. Marquee, Category A matches may sell out within minutes of going on sale.
