What does a practice session ticket involve?
A practice session for any Grand Prix usually starts on the Friday of the race weekend. Practice is where the teams test out different set ups and try to find the perfect solution for qualifying and the race itself.
There are two sessions on Friday, one taking place in the morning and the other in the afternoon. It’s important to note that there is no racing that takes place on this day.
What does a qualifying session ticket involve?
Qualifying usually takes place on the Saturday of a race weekend. Usually lasting two hours, qualifying takes place in the afternoon and it is preceded by one final practice session which takes place on Saturday morning.
Qualifying has three individual sessions. The first session involves every driver on the grid. The first session lasts for 18 minutes and sees 20 drivers reduced to 15.
The final fifteen then take place in the second qualifying session where the field is reduced to 10 drivers with the slowest five drivers being eliminated.
The final qualifying session sees the top ten battle for the right to start Sunday’s race on pole position. Lasting just 12 minutes, the racing can be fast and furious, with the pole leader often changing.
Depending on who has finished with the fastest lap once the clock hits zero, they will start at the front of the grid.

Stirling A and B both provide views of Copse Corner, one of the more challenging corners in the entire circuit. Drivers brake hard and then accelerate hard away, providing lots of excitement for spectators.
Copse A provides a panoramic view of the pit straight. It includes the exit from the pits and then the quick approach to Maggots. Copse A also offers the best view for spectators of the cars entering Copse Corner, the notoriously challenging turn on the track.
Copse B and C also provide a great view of the pit straight, pit exit and approach to Maggots, as well as the Copse Corner bend. However, Copse B and C are located further away from the corner and the track than Copse A, so the view is not quite as good.
Becketts offers a unique view at one of the more challenging areas of the circuit. In Becketts, spectators can watch cars pass through Maggots and Becketts corners and then through Chapel. It provides a great view of an exciting section of the circuit. The Chapel stand also covers this area of the circuit.
Stowe A, B and C are located at the end of the Hangar Straight, a sharp right-hander that cars approach at incredible speeds, meaning it is a particularly technical corner. Please note that Stowe C may not have sight of the Hangar Straight, depending on where you are sitting.
Vale provides a view of the Stowe, Club and Vale corners, as well as cars entering the pit lane. It comprises a large grassy area with a good view of the circuit for a large number of spectators.
Club Corner B and C provide a view of the final corner of the Silverstone circuit. Cars come out of Stowe Corner, down the Vale towards Club Corner and then disappear onto the Hamilton Straight.
