Euro 2024 Tickets: Which Teams Are in the Highest Demand?

One of football’s greatest spectacles is underway in Germany. Euro 2024 has it all, from the top players on the continent to some truly jaw-dropping venues. As the tournament progresses, fans will start dreaming about their team going all the way and maybe buying Euro 2024 tickets for the latter stages.

Getting tickets for Euro 2024 isn’t easy, but there’s always availability via the secondary market on Ticket Compare.

How Does Euro 2024 Secondary Market Pricing Work?

First up, the most important factors that determine the price of secondary market tickets for Euro 2024 are supply and demand. If more people want to get to a match, the price will inevitably go up.

So the ticket price is a very useful way of learning just how much certain fans want to see their teams in action. There are lots of other things that might drive demand, from team form to the convenience of getting to a stadium. So, let’s look at the hottest teams in the tournament:

1. Germany

Prices for their final group games are significantly higher than others, and fans were willing to pay €565 for the cheapest tickets for their final group game against Switzerland. Bear in mind that Germany had already qualified for the knockouts at that point.

Further ahead, tickets for Germany’s most likely Round of 16 match and ensuing quarter-final were also in high demand.

As the host nation, it’s no surprise that the hottest Euro 2024 ticket is Germany. Obviously, fans won’t have to travel too far to get to games, and many won’t need to organise accommodation. From a practical point of view, that could make the average fan more willing to splash out on Euro 2024 tickets.

Germany’s Excellent Performance

There’s another driver behind this sudden rush for Euro 2024 Germany tickets, and that is the sudden improvement of the team.

After group exits at the previous two World Cups and a Round of 16 defeat at Euro 2020, Germany have been in poor form for a while. Joachim Löw departed, replaced by Hansi Flick who didn’t do much better.

But under Julian Nagelsmann things have turned around. The team is spearheaded by exciting young talents like Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, and anchored by reliable old hands like Antonio Rüdiger and Toni Kroos.

The resulting good performances have led to a wave of optimism that Germany may be ready to claim their first silverware in a decade. For most international teams that’s a short wait, but Germany are used to going all the way.

2. England

There’s a noticeable spike in the price of England tickets at Euro 2024. Demand for the group games was almost as high as Germany.

Optimistic fans have also tried to plot England’s course through the tournament, anticipating that England should make it to the quarter-final in Düsseldorf on 6 July. This is easily the most expensive ticket in the round of 8.

England is one national fan-base that always shows up in force at international tournaments. A quick look at the Premier League attendances, and the fact that Wembley always sells out for friendlies, and it’s easy to see there’s an immense appetite for football in England.

A Strong English Team Filled with Talent

Whether it’s down to the players or coaching, it’s just a fact that the Three Lions go a long way in tournaments under Gareth Southgate. They made it to the semi-final of the World Cup in 2018, the final in Euro 2020 and fell to France in the quarters in Qatar in 2022.

People will debate whether England could be doing more with the talent at their disposal, but individual quality should drag them through. Any team with players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka will be confident of progressing in the tournament.

3. Turkey

One glimpse at the TV will tell you that Turkish fans have shown up in big numbers at Euro 2024, creating an awesome atmosphere in their matches so far. This is reflected in the ticket price, starting at €485 for their group game against Portugal. There are plenty of reasons behind this turnout, including a spectacular passion for football.

For Euro 2024 ticket demand, something to keep in mind is diaspora. Germany has a significant minority with Turkish heritage. In fact more than 2% of people living in the country, which is some 1.6 million people, can speak Turkish.

This is a long way of saying that many Turkey fans at Euro 2024 will already be living in Germany, and will find it more convenient to get to games.

No Longer Dark Horses

Many people expected Turkey to do well at Euro 2020. They had a good team on paper, but couldn’t turn it into performances and went out in the group stages.

In the space of three short years, a new generation has come through and it’s easy to see why expectations have grown. Real Madrid’s Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz of Juventus are the obvious ones, all supported by a cast of experienced stars including Hakan Çalhanoğlu of Inter Milan.

4. Portugal

Another team with high demand at the Euro 2024 is Portugal, who were drawn in the same group as Turkey. Naturally their match with Turkey featured one of the highest prices in the Group Stage. It’s also noteworthy that tickets for Portugal’s game against Georgia were significantly more expensive (€236 vs €140) than Georgia’s game against the Czech Republic. Meanwhile the Round of 16 games featuring the top two sides from Group F are among the priciest.

Portugal Are Always Contenders

This is a team with recent pedigree in the tournament, going all the way in Euro 2016. Portugal fans, already famous for their support, can travel with the expectation that their team will go far at Euro 2024. A bit like England, there are questions about Roberto Martínez’s management and gameplan, but the talent in their squad should ensure a long summer. Check out our range of Euro 2024 Portugal tickets

Is it Worth Buying Knockout Tickets Before the Group Stages are Over?

This is a good question. The moment a team is confirmed as a winner, runner-up or a ‘lucky loser’ the demand for tickets is going to sky-rocket, and the price is likely to climb, even as tickets become available via the primary market.

Looking at the buying patterns, some fans are trying to get ahead of the game, purchasing tickets without knowing for sure if the fixture will involve their team. Keep in mind that there isn’t much time to resell a ticket as they’re usually released within 24 hours of kick-off.
