How Long is the Waiting List for a Bournemouth Season Ticket?

As of 2024/25, there isn’t a waiting list for Bournemouth Season Tickets—in fact, no new season tickets have been sold at Dean Court since 2014 when Lewis Grabban was banging the goals in.

The reasons why are complicated, and cut to the heart of what it means to be a dedicated supporter of a Premier League football club in the 2024/25 season.

We’ll explain the AFC Bournemouth Season Ticket situation in this article. We will also look into topics such as pricing for the 2024/25 season, how the new stadium might change things, and secondary market alternatives. So let’s get to it, Cherries fans.

When Did They Stop Selling AFC Bournemouth Season Tickets?

In the summer of 2015, when the Cherries achieved that unprecedented promotion to the Premier League. Prior to that, the club sold a batch of half-season tickets around Christmas 2014.

At that point, AFCB’s hierarchy recognised the problem that was looming large.

The club sold a record 4,000 season tickets in the summer of 2013 when the club had recently been promoted in the EFL Championship. So more than a third of the stadium was locked into paying League One prices for Premier League football.

That is less ideal than having Alan Blayney as your first-choice goalkeeper.

Why Did They Stop Selling Bournemouth Season Tickets?

To make more money on matchdays, by reducing the number of seats taken by Bournemouth Season Ticket holders, who pay less per match.

AFC Bournemouth are unique for their tiny ground, the Vitality Stadium, which holds just 11,307 fans. Outside Luton Town’s brief spell in the Premier League, the Cherries play at the smallest stadium in the competition.

Bournemouth’s Low Matchday Revenue

As a result, Bournemouth generates a Premier League low of £5.4million in matchday revenue. This works out at just 3.8 per cent of their overall revenue of £141m, which is also the lowest proportion of any Premier League club.

Rewind to the 2015/16 season, and Bournemouth faced a dilemma. For a club determined to grow, the high proportion of season ticket holders in such a small stadium was a major issue.

So AFC Bournemouth Season Ticket sales were stopped and the club focused on increasing match-to-match ticket sales.

Bournemouth Season Ticket vs Match to Match Price Comparison

We’ll take the price of an AFCB Season Ticket in Dean Court’s Main Centre section, which is as expensive as it gets before you get into Executive and hospitality seating:

  • £875 is the season ticket price for 19 matches in Main Centre
  • £46 is the price when you divide that ticket by 19

In match to match sales the same seat costs:

  • £56 for Category A games (eight per season)
  • £53 for Category B games (eight per season)
  • £47 for Category C games (three per season)

So you don’t need Lewis Cook-level vision to see the financial benefit to the club.

How Much Does a Bournemouth Season Ticket Cost in 2024/25?

A Bournemouth Season Ticket costs from £633 to £1093 for adults. Compared to other Premier League STs the price is mid-table, but also reflects the basic facilities at the Vitality Stadium.

How Has the Price of a Bournemouth Season Ticket Changed?

The Bournemouth season ticket price was frozen for seven consecutive years between 2015/16 and 2023/24.

After consolidating their place in the Premier League in 2022/23, the club announced a price rise in summer 2023, working out at an average of 9.7 per cent across all locations and age categories. This raised the price to between £550 and £950 in the 2023/24 season.

Then in summer 2024, the club hiked prices to their current levels, with a rise of 6.5 per cent for 85 per cent of AFC Bournemouth Season Ticket holders.

What Are the Benefits of a Bournemouth Season Ticket?

Although they’re a shrinking minority at the Vitality Stadium, AFCB Season Ticket holders enjoy plenty of benefits when they renew each year:

  • Reserved Home Seats
Season ticket holders are guaranteed a spot for all 19 home AFCB Premier League matches at the Vitality Stadium.
  • Priority for Away Matches
AFCB Season ticket holders receive priority access to away games via the club's Cherry Points system.
  • Cup Scheme Enrolment
The Cup Scheme offers automatic access to European and FA Cup tickets before they become available to other fans.
  • Exclusive Discounts
Holders get a 10% discount at the AFC Bournemouth Superstore, with some minor exceptions.
  • Hospitality Upgrade
AFCB Season Ticket holders can upgrade to the Cherry Orchard hospitality suite, which includes a Main Stand seat, welcome drink, three-course meal, and more.

What Are Bournemouth’s Stadium Plans?

Something that might impact the Bournemouth season ticket situation is an upcoming relocation to a new stadium in time for the 2027/28 season.

Set directly behind the current ground, the new stadium is expected to seat 18,500 fans. So if you’re a Cherries fan hoping for light at the end of the season ticket tunnel, the move may increase the allocation for season ticket holders. Another step may be the introduction of an official Bournemouth Membership scheme for adults.

Until then, we don’t expect any new AFC Bournemouth Season Tickets to become available.
