Understanding Manchester City Ticket Points: A Detailed Guide
Ticket Points are Manchester City’s currency when the club assesses who can buy tickets for away matches.
The Ticket Points system rewards Man City’s most loyal fans, who have been following the club home and away for years.
In this detailed guide we’ll explain just how you can earn Manchester City Ticket Points, and how many you will need to get away tickets in 2025/26.
We’ll also explain Man City’s various Cup Schemes, and look into alternatives for fans who want tickets without needing Ticket Points.
No Ticket Points Needed
What Are Manchester City Ticket Points?
Combined with a Manchester City season ticket, Ticket Points decide how early, or if at all, you can buy tickets for Man City away matches.
These points are accumulated over years, rolling over from season to season. Because Ticket Points are never wiped, there are now fans with more than 30,000 points.
Naturally, this select group of fans is first in line for away tickets and big games at neutral stadiums, including finals.
We discuss the process in more depth in our guide to buying Manchester City away tickets.
How Do You Earn Man City Ticket Points?
You earn Manchester City Ticket Points in three ways:
- Buying or renewing a season ticket
- Signing up for one of the club’s cup schemes (there are three in total)
- Buying home tickets in the cups
Below is the distribution of points through each of those methods:
Season Ticket tier | Season Ticket points | Cup Scheme points | Home cup match ticket points |
---|---|---|---|
93:20 | 380 | 200 | 20 |
Platinum | 380 | 200 | 20 |
Gold | 190 | 100 | 10 |
Value Gold | 190 | 100 | 10 |
Now 93:20 season tickets are in premium seats, but you can see how valuable Platinum season tickets also are in terms of Ticket Points. We’ll show how to get one next.
Ticket Points Benefit of Having a Manchester Platinum Season Ticket
As you may have noticed, Platinum season ticket members are awarded double the number of points of Gold and Value Gold season ticket members. So if you enter all three Cup Schemes that means 600 points instead of 300.
This is a big benefit, especially when Platinum season tickets are easy to obtain. To get Platinum, all you have to do is pay $67 extra during a season ticket purchase or renewal period to upgrade your Man City season ticket to Platinum.
In the last few years the club has launched a pay-as-you-go Flexi Gold season ticket scheme.
These fans are also eligible for Ticket Points, but they earn them in a different way to regular MCFC season ticket members.
How Flexi Gold Season Ticket Holders Can Earn Ticket Points
Since a Flexi Gold season ticket doesn’t give you tickets, but rather the opportunity to buy tickets, these members simply receive 10 points for every home league match they attend.
Flexi Gold season ticket members are also free to join the club’s Cup Schemes.
Now, even though Cup Schemes will help you attend matches in the domestic cups and Europe, it will be several years before the extra points help Flexi Gold season members attend away matches in the league.
Still, attending Premier League away games should be a long-term goal for Flexi Goal season ticket members, and something to work towards.
To explain, we’ll show how many Ticket Points are needed for Premier League away tickets.
How Many Ticket Points Do You Need to Buy Man City Away Tickets?
The total number of Ticket Points needed to buy away tickets for Man City will always vary depending on a host of factors. We’ll lay out a few now:
- The prestige of the opponent
- When in the week the match takes place,
- How late or early in a competition the match falls
- How easy the opponent is to get to
- The size of the opponent’s away allocation
Of these, the size of the allocation is often decisive, especially in the Premier League.
To illustrate, these were the lowest Ticket Points thresholds in 2025/26 for the away matches against Arsenal at the Emirates (allocation: 3,000+) and Brentford at Community Stadium (allocation: 1,725).
- Arsenal Away (21 September 2025): 21,000 Ticket Points
- Brentford Away (5 October 2025): 24,000 Ticket Points
So this tells you that typical Ticket Points thresholds are far beyond what a new fan could hope to attain.
Also, if there’s a drop in the size of the away allocation, it will be significantly harder to qualify for the right to buy tickets on a Ticket Points basis.
That is despite Brentford away being a smaller occasion than a trip to Arsenal, who have been City’s Premier League title rivals in recent years.
So how many Ticket Points are typically needed to get to the front of the queue for cup final tickets? We’ll clear that up next.
Man City Ticket Points Needed For Cup Finals
The number of required Ticket Points will change from final to final. Fortunately we can point to a recent example, when City played Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final in 2025.
This was the order of sale for final tickets at Wembley:
- Season Ticket Members who had joined the FA Cup Scheme were first in line. Their windows opened in stages for the very highest ticket-point totals first (for example 18,000, then 12,000, then 6,500), before opening to all fans on the scheme.
- Next came Season Ticket Members who were not on the scheme. They were offered slots in descending ticket-point bands (for example 10,000, then 6,500, then 4,500, then 3,000), and then a final window for all remaining Season Ticket Members.
Only after those phases did sales reach Cityzens Matchday and Cityzens Junior Members.
Since they’re such a great source of Ticket Points and put you first in line for finals, we’ll now go into a little more detail on Manchester City’s Cup Schemes.
Man City Cup Schemes: What They Are and How They Work
So what is a Cup Scheme? This is an opt-in plan where the club automatically processes your ticket for home cup matches—and, as we’ve shown, gives you priority for away and final allocations in the cups.
Once you join an MCFC Cup Scheme, payment is taken automatically for each relevant game and your seat is confirmed without you needing to buy it manually. So it’s a ‘set and forget’ setup for Man City season ticket members.
Why join a Man City Cup Scheme?
- Ticket Points boost: Join all three Cup Schemes to earn 300 Ticket Points. Again, if you are on Platinum, this is doubled to 600.
- Ticket priority: You move to the front of the queue for away cup matches and cup final tickets, subject to availability and the club’s qualifying criteria.
- Home cup price cap: With a Cup Scheme, domestic home cup ties are capped at $47 in 2025/26, up to and including the quarter-finals. Premium Seat holders pay the prevailing price for their seat.
- Automatic purchase: The club takes payment automatically and confirms your seat. If a move is needed, they will place you in a suitable area.
Important payment rules for Man City Cup Schemes
If a payment fails and is not resolved, you will be removed from the scheme and will also lose any Ticket Points awarded for joining.
Removal is final for the rest of that season, and you cannot re-join until the following season. So it’s essential that you keep your payment methods fully up-to-date on the club site, and stay on top of communications from the club.
