The short answer to this question is that there isn’t a waiting list to buy a Brentford Season Ticket. In fact, it’s a lot harder than simply joining a queue.
This is because Brentford is one of a couple of clubs that use a loyalty points system for potential season ticket holders to qualify. However, the method is completely different to Chelsea, which also uses a loyalty points system. We’ll explain everything you need to know below.
How Do I Apply for a Brentford Season Ticket?
As we mentioned, getting a Brentford Season Ticket is not as simple as joining a waiting list. Instead, you have to attend Brentford games with a Brentford Membership and start earning Ticket Access Points (TAPS).
It’s vital to remember that this points total rolls over from season to season, so there are plenty of Brentford regulars who have built up thousands of points.
Towards the end of each season, the club decides how many TAPS will be needed for anyone who wants to apply for a Brentford FC Season Ticket. With Brentford enjoying the best spell in the history of the club, you can bet that demand is high, and you need a lot of points.
How Do Brentford Ticket Access Points (TAPS) Work?
Brentford Ticket Access are awarded for attending games with a Brentford Membership. As well as contributing to a total for a Brentford Season Ticket, they also qualify Brentford Members for marquee matches, from London derbies to matches against big Premier League clubs. For these games there is always a Ticket Access Points threshold that you have to exceed. You can find out more about this in our guide to Brentford Membership.
Club | Home TAPS | Away TAPS |
Arsenal | 10 | 15 |
Aston Villa | 15 | 30 |
Bournemouth | 15 | 20 |
Brighton | 15 | 20 |
Chelsea | 10 | 15 |
Crystal Palace | 15 | 15 |
Everton | 15 | 40 |
Fulham | 10 | 15 |
Ipswich Town | 15 | 30 |
Leicester City | 15 | 30 |
Liverpool | 10 | 40 |
Manchester City | 10 | 40 |
Manchester United | 10 | 40 |
Newcastle United | 10 | 50 |
Nottingham Forest | 15 | 30 |
Southampton | 15 | 20 |
Tottenham Hotspur | 10 | 15 |
West Ham | 10 | 15 |
Wolves | 15 | 30 |
What you may notice is that travelling further for away games and attending less glamorous home matches will score you more Ticket Access Points. It’s all a way of helping the club put bums on seats for home matches and fill its away allocations.
How Many Ticket Access Points Do I Need for a Brentford Season Ticket?
The current estimate is somewhere around 1,000 points. To illustrate how difficult this is to achieve, there are roughly 800 points available in any season. That means you could attend every match in a campaign and still fall short of the TAPS threshold for a Brentford Season Ticket.
Since this is completely unrealistic for an average fan, reaching the 1,000-point threshold would require attending between 10 and 15 games a season over three years. Do reach the required amount of TAPS you would also need to prioritise long-distance away trips.
Why is It so Hard to Buy a Brentford Season Ticket?
A decade ago, buying a Brentford FC Season Ticket was as simple as paying a couple of hundred pounds. There was no waiting list, and there was no special criteria that you had to meet. Of course, back then, Brentford was a lower-league club that had never played so much as a season in the top flight.
Needless to say, the situation has changed a lot, and a number of things have come together to make buying a season ticket for Brentford a difficult task.
Firstly, Brentford has established itself as a Premier League club. If you had to single out a model of stable ownership it would be Matthew Benham, with his data-oriented approach. The club has never been in better shape, and looks set to continue developing.
Second, Brentford moved into a new stadium, Community Stadium in 2020. Holding 17,250, it’s significantly larger than their previous home at Griffin Park. However, by Premier League standards it’s small, and demand for seats eclipses supply.
How Much is a Brentford Season Ticket?
The price of a Brentford FC Season Ticket has risen since the club came up to the Premier League. Before the start of the 2024-25 the price of an average Band B season ticket (making up 57% of all Brentford Season Tickets), went up by £45.
Still, despite these increases, Brentford FC Season Tickets are reasonably priced, especially up against other teams in London and the Premier League.
So those Band B season tickets cost £495, while the cheapest seats are in the family area in the North Stand, costing £460 a season. The most expensive are pitchside in the South Stand, in the Dugout area, costing £815 a season. Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
Season Ticket Band | Location | Price |
Band A | South Stand and North Stand, between penalty Area and halfway line | £560 |
Band A + | North Stand, on halfway line | £605 |
Band B | East Stand, West Stand, penalty areas in North and South Stand | £495 |
Family Area (Band C) | West End of North Stand | £460 |
Band P | Halfway Line in South Stand, Lower Tier | £815 |
You can check these locations with the help of our guide to the Community Stadium seating plan.
Can I Spread the Cost of My Brentford FC Season Ticket?
Yes, the club offers a direct debit installment plan, and has recently extended this from 10 months to 12 months.
When Are Brentford Season Tickets Renewed?
The renewal period for Brentford Season Tickets is towards the end of the season. Around March the club will announce the new pricing tariff and any new rules for the following season. The deadline for renewals is usually around the end of April, and at this time the club will announce the Ticket Access Points totals required to qualify for a Brentford Season Ticket.
Fans who don’t want to deal with the hassle of completing the renewal process can opt in to auto-renewal.
After the renewal period is when you can expect to learn the qualification threshold for new Brentford FC Season Ticket applicants. The renewal rate affects these terms, and unfortunately for applicants, it’s been sky high in recent years. In May 2024 it was up to 97%, which means that only around 450 new season tickets were sold stadium-wide. This is despite the price hike at the end of 2023-24.
How Could the Brentford Season Ticket Criteria Change?
One thing you can guarantee is that the stadium capacity will stay at 17,250 for the foreseeable future. So the number of Brentford FC Season Tickets available will not change. However, demand could increase or decrease, depending on whether the club consolidates its Premier League position, gains a spot in Europe or drops back down to the Championship.
A relegation would make it easier to buy a Brentford Season Ticket. Don’t count on it happening anytime soon though.
Buying Brentford Tickets from the Secondary Market
We’ve shown that it has never been more difficult to buy Brentford tickets. The threshold for a Brentford Season Ticket has never been higher, while you also need Ticket Access Points to qualify to buy individual match tickets.
So the secondary market is a handy alternative, especially if you’re travelling specifically for a fixture and cannot compromise on the match you want to see. In these cases we list a number of trusted secondary marketplaces to help you get the tickets you need. We also have premium hospitality tickets via official club resale agents.
