How Long is the Waiting List for an Aston Villa Season Ticket?

At the last count in June 2025 there were 45,000 fans on the waiting list for an Aston Villa Season Ticket.

This list has grown a lot since 2022 when it was around 26,000. One reason for that sudden growth is that the club is more popular than ever, following a Champions League run in 2024/25.

As we will show, the club also did not make any season tickets available for sale before the 2024/25 season.

Exactly why this happened is because of a trend sweeping across the Premier League to increase matchday revenue.

The following summer, in 2025, Aston Villa announced a complete shakeup of their season ticket waiting list. They have now introduced a points system designed to reward the most faithful Villa fans who get to the most matches.

In this article we will explain just what the situation is with AVFC Season Tickets. We will do a deep dive on the new points system and its rules, as well as pricing and alternatives. So read on for an in-depth analysis of Aston Villa season tickets.

Aston Villa Season Ticket Waiting List Explained for 2025/26

Summer 2025 was a time of upheaval for fans on the season ticket waiting list. Fans were contacted by the club who gave them a new position on the waiting list based on attendance in the previous two seasons.

For fans who attend fewer matches, this was bad news. Many have slipped way down the list, while others now face the prospect of being removed altogether.

Why? We’ll explore this situation next.

Attendance is Key for the New AVFC Season Ticket Points System

Every year you renew your Aston Villa membership you get an automatic 100 points towards your place in the new season ticket waiting list ranking.

On top of that you receive:

  • One point for any AVFC Premier League men’s home match you attend
  • One point for any AVFC WSL home match you attend
  • Two points for attending any cup game, including FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League/Europa League

Going forward, fans who don’t attend any matches over a two-year period will also be removed from the list completely.

Meanwhile other fans, who were previously far down the list, have suddenly jumped thousands of places. In some cases, fans at 44,000 jumped more than 30,000 spots simply by attending more than 10 matches between 2023 and 2025.

In 2025, a fan with more than 113 points, so someone who has attended multiple matches in the last two years, could expect to be in or near the top 10,000 and well on their way to being offered a ticket in the next few years.

How Many Points Do I Need for an Aston Villa Season Ticket?

If you had accumulated148 points or more by summer 2025 you were offered the chance to buy an Aston Villa season ticket.

Exactly 1,000 new season tickets were sold to the public in this way in June 2025 following the season ticket renewals window.

How Do I Buy an Aston Villa Season Ticket?

First you have to join the AVFC Season Ticket waiting list. This is easily done via the club’s website.

When you sign up for the list, you have to pay a $14 deposit (redeemable if you buy an ST) and supply the club with your personal info and Fan ID.

You also have to select your preferred seating area (Trinity Road Stand, Doug Ellis Stand, Holte End, or North Stand).

Most important of all is to sign up for Aston Villa membership, which will give you the automatic 100 points you need to start moving to the top of the waiting list.

Aston Villa Season Ticket Prices 2025/26

The price of an adult Aston Villa FC Season Ticket ranges from $912 to $1,347 in 2025/26. This was a 5 per cent increase on the price of a 2024/25 season ticket, on top of a five per cent rise the summer before.

It puts the club in the top-half of the table for Premier League ticket prices

Next we’ll explore exactly what you get with a season ticket for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa Season Ticket Usage Guidelines

For 2025/26, to make sure Villa Park stays as noisy as ever, the club introduced strict new rules for season ticket usage.

Aston Villa season ticket holders now have to attend or officially share their ticket at least 14 of the 19 Premier League home fixtures to ensure they keep their ticket for the following season.

To make this an easier total to achieve, the club announced an enhanced sharing and official resale system.

Using the club’s official app you can now:

  • Share seats more easily with approved friends and family (eight members listed as a maximum)
  • Use the AVFC ticket resale system more easily when you can’t get to a match

Key Updates for 2025/26

  • The previous 20% resale fee for the AVFC ticket resale system has now been scrapped.
  • When you sell a seat via the resale system, you’ll now receive 1/19th of your season-ticket cost for each match sold.

In the next section we’ll look into the wider trends surrounding Aston Villa season tickets in recent seasons.

Why Were There No Aston Villa Season Tickets for Sale in 2024?

The short answer is because of money reasons. To comply with Profit and Sustainability rules, the Villans are battling to increase their matchday revenue like all Premier League football clubs.

In summer 2024, the club renovated portions of the Doug Ellis, North, and Trinity Road stands. During this work they installed a number of additional premium seats.

These posh seats are highly lucrative for the club, and ate into the season ticket allocation. The number of season ticket holders at Villa Park is now 27,000, down 2,000 from 29,000 in 2022/23, and 30,000 in the late 2010s.

Aston Villa Match by Match Ticket vs Season Ticket Pricing

Also important is that the club has hiked the price of match by match tickets over the last few years.

Before 2024/25 the cost of Category 3 match tickets rose 15 per cent, while Category B games increased 10 per cent.

For the 2025/26 season they increased another 5 per cent.

These increases have been all much more dramatic than the comparatively modest increase in the price of an Aston Villa FC Season Ticket, which was 5 per cent in 20245 and 5 per cent again in 2025.

Here is the 2025/26 price of an adult 1888 matchday seat for league football:

  • Category 3: $125
  • Category 4 $107

Compare that to the equivalent price of an 1888 Season Ticket divided by 19 matches:

  • 1888 Season Ticket: $71

You don’t need to be a Unai Emery-level genius to work out that the club can make a lot more matchday revenue by focusing on match by match tickets.

Now, although no general admission season tickets were for sale, the club did introduce something called a General Admission Plus (GA+) Season Ticket.

What Is a General Admission Plus Season Ticket at Aston Villa?

An Aston Villa General Admission Plus Season Ticket is essentially a seasonal hospitality ticket at a budget. So, the main feature of these GA+ season tickets is that they feature less expensive lounges.

So although there are plenty of velvet rope-style comforts and conveniences, the matchday experience will resemble a general admission season ticket in many ways.

This goes for everything from atmosphere to the lounges themselves, which are bustling sports bars.

In line with other seasonal hospitality tickets, you get extended stadium access, starting three hours before kick-off and lasting another 90 minutes after the final whistle. Let’s explore these locations:

The Terrace View

A GA+ area situated above the Holte End, with elevated sightlines. Comes with two complimentary drink vouchers per match, a dedicated social zone and quicker access to bars and facilities..

The Cells

A GA+ section adjacent to the away end, ideal if you savour that kind of back-and-forth banter. Features its own hangout space with fast-track entry and swift access to the bar—all-important when the clock is ticking at half-time.

The Lower Grounds

Located in the Lower Holte, this GA+ area gives you the full noise of Villa Park’s most famous stand, mixed with a bit of luxury. You get bottomless food and drink, a more spacious lounge if you need to recharge at full-time.

Villa Park Season Ticket Holders vs the Big Six: A Comparison

To give you a little more insight into the club’s strategy, we’ll compare the proportion of general admission season ticket holders at Villa Park with clubs in the traditional ‘Big Six’:

ClubStadiumCapacitySeason Ticket HoldersPercentage of ST Holders
Aston VillaVilla Park42,64027,00063
ArsenalEmirates60,70440,00066
ChelseaStamford Bridge40,34128,00069
LiverpoolAnfield61,27630,00049
Manchester CityEtihad53,40036,00067
Manchester UnitedOld Trafford74,31050,00067
TottenhamTottenham Hotspur Stadium62,85042,50072

So as you can tell, Aston Villa has fought to bring the proportion of season ticket holders down to the low 60s.

Until their recent reduction AVFC Season Ticket holders made up 68 per cent of the capacity at Villa Park, which was at the upper end of the scale across the Premier League.

How Could the Aston Villa Season Ticket Waiting List Change?

Now, if it seems difficult right now to buy an Aston Villa season ticket, there are a few things that could change the situation.

For one, a dip in performances on the pitch might have a dual effect: Fewer fans might purchase a Aston Villa FC Season Ticket when they get to the front of the queue.

The club might also decide to raise the season ticket allocation to guarantee everyone with Villa Park tickets fills their seats.

Good Times at Villa Park in 2025/26

As it is, in 2024/25 the Villans played in the European Cup/Champions League for the first time since they won it in 1982, only losing in the quarter-final to eventual winners, PSG.

Naturally, this on-field success drove unprecedented demand for match by match tickets. It allowed the club to set astronomically high prices for Champions League matches, at $115, $128 and $132.

Those prices caused outrage, but Claret & Blue fans still showed up in their droves. Not many were grumbling when Villa defeated Bayern Munich in October 2024.

Europa League prices in 2025/26 are a little cheaper, but if Villa qualify for the knockout phase, it will still cost $88 for the cheapest seats and $105 for 1888 seats.

Villa Park Expansion and AVFC Season Tickets

Something that is sure to affect the availability of Aston Villa FC Season Tickets in the future is an expansion of Villa Park’s North Stand. This will increase the capacity of the stadium from 42,640 to more than 50,000.

Naturally an upshot would be more space for Aston Villa Season Ticket holders, reducing the waiting list. However, the exact proportion of this new capacity is as yet unclear—so there’s no knowing how many new season tickets it will create.

Work was due to start in summer 2024, but was delayed for a year, before new plans were announced in April 2025. Now the expansion is expected to be completed in 2027, in time for Euro 2028, for which Villa Park will be a host stadium.

So while the future of the Aston Villa Season Ticket waiting list is unclear, you do have other options.
